I need a bit of help on an idea too!

Arrgh!

*headbutts desk*

*Turns to reader*

Hi, how are you? Welcome to my frustration.

I have hit a very major wall. I'm trying to make a music video set to Linkin Parks new song, Somewhere I Belong. Using Evangelion as the anime. Thing is, the timing is perfect, the cuts work well, and the effects fit. IT JUST DOESNT SEEM RIGHT!! It looks good, but it looks too generic at the same time!! I can't seem to find the magical combination of music and anime thattl make it gel, and I need this to be the best ever music video I've ever made, ever! Because I want it to be the first one downloadable when I get my site, Insanity Cheese, up and running. Can anyone offer themes, ideas, general tips to assist me in this? It would be greatly appreciated, and I'll return the favour if its ever needed.

Thanx.

Take a look at your lyrics. (Posting them here might be helpful as well since not everyone may know the words of the song you're using.) Like you mentioned earlier, you found a way to draw out the emotional bits of the song in your DBZ video. Try to figure out the emotions associated with the words of the song and the emotional tone. Then take scenes like those of the character emitting those emotions and set them to it. The most emotive part of anatomy that I find, especially in anime is the character's eyes, hands, and mouths. Try to find clear scenes where they are doing something with their eyes, hands, or mouths that would match. Remember, it's okay to cut a scene into tiny pieces. One second of a tear falling used at the right point in a song can be very emotive and gives you more room to move things around so that the transitions are smooth and the timing is still good. That's my advice.

Well, the song is the newbie by Linkin Park, its called "Somewhere I Belong" in fact, theres a Cowboy BeBop video done to it on this very site, look for it in the Super Search. Just Put "Cowboy Bebop" as your anime, and "Somewhere I Belong" as the song. Its called something like "Neverfail" or something. Thats the song I'm using. As for the footage, they are self made no audio Evangelion DVD rips. Its a hassle, because I cant seem to find any "meaningful" footage that fits the music that isnt action (and all that is is the Eva's kicking Angel ass). Once you listen to the song you'll see (hear?) what I mean. But thankyou for the reply anyway man, i'll give it a go tonite at home.

You're welcome, but I'm not a man. :D I also don't really enjoy Linkin Park music so you'll forgive me if I don't check out what the song sounds like.

Nah, thats good. And "man" is just a slang term. I say it to everyone, infact so do most of the people I associate with. Its like, what do you call a term.....a colloquialism! yeah, so its not a gender label.

Okay, that's cool then, man. :) I misinterpreted it because in the past on these forums a few people didn't know I was a woman.

It's all good. I pretty much had it pegged that you were a chick anyway, because of the posts you made in my thread about singing. Im glad you are actually willing to help ppl without abusing them at the same time.
