Painful Inspiration

Post by Kyodai » Sun Mar 09, 2003 10:42 pm

I have been really depressed alot. The good thing about depression I guess is it gives you a form of creativity. Good for making dramatic and serious videos. Actualy it has made me want to write a song about my life and then make a AMV for it. Unfortuantly I dont have enough time to do that for ACen.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Why? What kind of inspiration did it give you?

I love you man

Anywho, maybe not quite the same way, but I was beginning a vid once and didn't seem to look at it very well (for once I actually considered dumping a project, usually I finish what I start) And for a rather deep and depression video...it took a very uplifting song to get me back into the nick of things and I started editing again, so far the vid looks nice...O.o

Sorry to hear you're depressed, I've been taht way too. And yes, it does get creative juices flowing, the rate at which I produce videos has increased a great deal.

I am often inspired by pain too... Depression is evil, insomia is worse. When you have insomia you are never really awake or asleep you are just there. Which actually has given me numerous ideas that strech to the ends of the worlds.

I am also working with a composer, and I have become quite well equipt in the art of 3D CGI animation. So you might see an actual legitment "AMV".

Not for a while though... My CPU is too slow to render :'(

Yes I get alot done too now. Other than leaving for class and work I stay in my hotel room. The rest of the people have given me the name "Mr. Hermit". After this week I'll have spring break which I'll probably only leave the room for Work, Food (rarely), and to smoke in the hallway (constantly). I should get this drama I'm working on done. And then a short comedy. And then who knows. I'm hoping to get atleast my current video finished and one short comedy finished.

I have done some of my best work while depressed out of my mind. My most recent vid was made as a response to my (now ex) girl dumping me and going after a good friend of mine... I then proceeded to make a four minute video with 2 episodes of an anime.

A good number of artists just can't work when they're happy. Nobody really knows why, just how it is. That being said, the irony is that a number of anti-depressant medications have been shown to also dampen creative tendencies in writers and artists...

I can work either way, but I think that I put out stuff that's a little better when depressed...working on the video gives me somewhere to channel the energy.

That's what I think. In turn, I believe that artists create art when depressed to express how they feel to the world, searching for some sort of recognition. They want positive feedback. Also, working on something will take your mind off of your problems. Unless your problems lie in what you're working on :?
