Funimation's Black Butler AMV
so yeah, I was on youtube, and I saw that Funimation officially uploaded a AMV that was was made in order to promote "Black Butler". The video is pretty random and lacks flow, but it is 100% legal and official. I'm still a little disappointed though. If Funimation ever does this again, it would be awesome if they contact a bunch of AMV editors and have a contest to see who could make the best video. And the winner's video could become an official trailer or possibly a special feature/ extra on the DVD release. I would love to participate in something like that.
Here is the video

Anyway, the reason why I started this thread is to ask a question. Do you think that someday AMV editors could be freelance editors for companies like Funimation. I know about the 4 AMVs that were put on ADV's final release of Noir, but it always seemed like a one time thing. Do you think that the AMV community (mainly the org) has enough power and influence to persuade Funimation to do this more often. Could AMV editing someday become a career? Or is this simply a impossible dream?

As long as funimation can get better looking promotional videos for cheaper labor, i'm sure that they will reach out to the org eventually.

About the first part, quite impossible perhaps, being the case that moooost of the editors use cracked programs, and to have some vid edited on that on TV/DVD is like what, crime?
Unless they give away. Or ask some specific stuff, so everything is legal.
About 2nd part: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... 2&t=101761

I feel this way two. AMVs have become an increasingly popular highlight of conventions, and they serve as awesome promotional tools.ExSphere wrote:As long as funimation can get better looking promotional videos for cheaper labor, i'm sure that they will reach out to the org eventually.
You can't tell if a video was made on illegal software by looking at the render, so I doubt that it would be an issue. Anyway, my Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 is 100% legal.Kawatta-kun wrote:About the first part, quite impossible perhaps, being the case that moooost of the editors use cracked programs, and to have some vid edited on that on TV/DVD is like what, crime?

And in terms of your link, I don't think that it really applies to this. The professional editor thread is talking about editing live action footage as a career. Editing AMVs as a career would be completely different.

Possibly yes. But what about the music? As long as the company get everything solved for the audio, I think it's possible

Well, it's better than the TANK video on the Bebop dvds.

Re: Funimation's Black Butler AMV
FUNimation LOVES amvs. They love my Dragon Bebop Z and The Haunted Ship and also loved Kusoyaro's "Novem" MEP. That AMV was most likely done by their in-house editor with the digital master sources as opposed to DVD rips. Maybe doki can post about how what methods he and some of the other editors used for the Noir extras.kireblue wrote:so yeah, I was on youtube, and I saw that Funimation officially uploaded a AMV that was was made in order to promote "Black Butler". FUNi really knows how to listen to their fans so maybe ask some of their representatives at a convention. If we really want to make amv editing an actual career, we need to push forward and inquire the best we can. This is GREAT news.

I say that we all need to like and or favorite that AMV. Even if you don't feel that it is all that good, we need to promote it. If Funimation feels that the AMV is bringing Black Butler a lot of attention, we become one step closer.Castor Troy wrote:FUNimation LOVES amvs. They love my Dragon Bebop Z and The Haunted Ship and also loved Kusoyaro's "Novem" MEP. I don't think that paid is the right word. It was probably made by someone already employed by Funimation as a video editor.NME wrote:THEY ACTUALLY PAID FOR THAT?
