It's not just the codec. Visual quality is also influenced by factors such as resolution, framerate, bitrate, and codec settings.MechaTheGreat wrote:I also want to know, what determines the quality? Is it the codec or something?
But if the video looks horrible going into the codec, the codec won't make it look any better. That's why having a good, clean input stream is important. And cleaning and smoothing filters for programs like AVISynth can help you in this regard.
No, it would have bad quality because you got your source from Yuu'utsube. It doesn't matter if your screen recorder can perfectly reproduce what's on your screen if what's on your screen already sucks to begin with.MechaTheGreat wrote:If I were to use my Camtasia Studios recorder to record the episodes off of You.Tube, or some other site that has the episodes uploaded on it, and then import those recordings into a program that I can rip the certain clips that I want for the AMV, would this work? And would it have bad quality because I am recording it?
AVISynth is not a ripping program, because it doesn't decrypt DVD data and save it to your hard drive, but I know what you mean.MechaTheGreat wrote:Also, can I use AviSynth, or some other ripping programs that are used for DVD footage on DLed or recorded footage?
Nothing's stopping you from using AVISynth and its filters on footage that you got from sources other than DVDs, but just be aware that you'll never be able to make downloaded footage look as good as DVD footage.
