Exactly what I've been thinking since I started reading the thread. These are the type of songs I prefer to edit to. I have cut down songs that didn't mean much to me but this is the reason why I wouldn't shorten a 5+ min song.Beowulf wrote:If you are using a song that is very near and dear to you, you wouldn't be inclined to cut the audio, as you have respect for it, and the atmosphere it creates along with your video.

Re: Just because your song is five minutes long,
some songs need to be cut, like the US national anthem... only illegal immigrants sing the 2nd verse.Cornwiggle wrote:xoverburnx wrote:I Disagree. What kind of ignorant answer is that?Cornwiggle wrote:Because editing the song in an AMV is retarded.Adv1sor wrote:doesn't mean your AMV needs to be.
Why is it that so many AMV editors never edit the music?
I feel that if you can't use the whole song in an AMV (the ones that use only one song) then don't use that song.
If you can't use the WHOLE song, then don't use it.
And I'm not talking about those multi-vids, I'm talking about the kind of genre of AMV I like, the ones that focus on something with ONE song. Editing the song down because you can't do the whole thing, means you should find another. That's how I think.

Are you as adamant about cutting, say, part of a long and repetitive outro as you are about cutting a solo or a verse?Cornwiggle wrote:If you can't use the WHOLE song, then don't use it.

Re: Just because your song is five minutes long,
same question, you have to have some lenience in your no cutting policy. bet you arent circumsized (i really don't want to know)Melanchthon wrote:Are you as adamant about cutting, say, part of a long and repetitive outro as you are about cutting a solo or a verse?Cornwiggle wrote:If you can't use the WHOLE song, then don't use it.

Some AMVs editors don't edit the music because the whole song is crucial to the idea of execution, while others edit songs because the song either repeats itself or the editor is in a rut in which they can't use that part of the song to the footage they are editing too.Adv1sor wrote:doesn't mean your AMV needs to be.

And sometimes they just want to use part of the song, and not the entire thing. This is hardly some great evil.Ladymercury wrote:Some AMVs editors don't edit the music because the whole song is crucial to the idea of execution, while others edit songs because the song either repeats itself or the editor is in a rut in which they can't use that part of the song to the footage they are editing too.

wow , kalium locked all the ongoing threads... i guess this is the only one left
Editing music is easy and there are plenty of reasons for doing so
Fort Minor - Where'd You Go.. awesome song, but at the end there are a few seconds of commentary. Just cut it out! thats an edit.
The Team America theme song, just delete it! thats an edit.

I wish I had developed the skills to profesionally deejay yet... I just dabble so far, I have a few unfinished works (one mixing two different songs, but fostly just cutting out bits and peices).xoverburnx wrote:After reading this thread, the only people that complain about editing music are the ones that don't know how to do it!
Maybe its not fair for me to be in here, I deejay.
Tip: listen to the BEAT of your song, every song has one even rap!! Anyway DON'T mix with the beat too much. In one of my songs I had sped up one part by 150%... they souldn't sound good together, but I think they do. I did cut it on the beat though... but no clue why it sounds good to me... maybe cuz it's a nice 'even' number.... your mileage may vary. It's an intrumental too...

Re: Just because your song is five minutes long,
See, sometimes I think like that (mostly amvs made cuz I LOVE the anime so, like the typical fan, I want to digest it EXACTLY), but if it's an amv your makeing because you want to make a point (not necessarily what the song says, and not necessarily how the anime goes!) than do whatever your artistic nerve tells you to! It's really a tale of two things. If you hadn't found your 'artistic handle' don't worry about it, just continue doing what your doing, it'll develop. It took me a while.Cornwiggle wrote:If you can't use the WHOLE song, then don't use it.
