THis entire discussion is about the morality of useing footage from another AMV. This is not about you or anyone else. The entire argument is that it isn't polite.

Polite is defined by webster as " 2 a : showing or characterized by correct social usage b : marked by an appearance of consideration, tact, deference, or courtesy c : marked by a lack of roughness or crudities "or by a more personal definition to do something that is not socially acepted.

I'm going to say that it is as polite to use anime footage as it is to use somone elses AMV as long as it is credited.

In many ways it's more rude to use anime because the ammount of work and people involved is greater. More people work on a animated series then even animix. It's more rude only if it is rude to use somone elses work. Since it is moral to use animated projects like tri-gun or evangelion without asking, as long as credit is given. Then it is just as moral to use another persons video without asking, as long as credit is given.

I'm impressed; you misinterpret me as swiftly and surely as my husband does. :D I beg pardon. I tend to type with a light heart, and I forget that there's people who will take every word literally and unsalted. If it makes you feel better, I'll amend it to "I am of the opinion that the easy way is wrong 99.99999% of the time" (since that statement seems to have gotten up your nose). Better?
This has no relevence to the discussion above it

Actually, since the thread was started by Kasra_WTF (of WTF Productions, with me), about her vid being plagiarized, I'd think that yes, it is about us. And since you started off a post quoting me by adressing me, I thought that you were talking to me, so I defended my point of view (since you *seemed* from that post to really not understand it). I'm sorry if I've misinterpreted.

The vid that started this all had a "thanks to WTF Productions" at the end (not even a "footage by WTF Productions used", just a "thanks" - that sure wouldn't fly in an academic paper, so I don't think it counts as crediting), and when we tried to contact the creator, her response was to blatantly plagiarize as opposed to just being ambiguous. The issue is not about crediting, since we were never credited. Therefore, the fact that I think it's polite to ask first, and you don't care, is moot.

But thanks for the definition.

So, now that we've passed Dead Horse Point: the upshot of all this is that the plagiarism rule here is currently unenforceable, and no punitive measures can/will be taken? (Please do correct me if I'm wrong.) If anything, I'd request that the "Young Killers Smiles" vid - the one that seems to have been made just to be rude - would be toasted, but if there's no recourse for requesting such a thing, so be it.

P.S. Thanks to whoever mentioned the bbcode and smileys being disabled as being the culprit of my stuff displaying funny. I've just started using Safari as my browser, and it displays some things oddly compared to IE (and vice versa), so it didn't occur to me that it was a problem I could fix.

Ah, I think that's where the misunderstanding comes in. Of course I'm not pushing for a rule change; I'm only arguing that my opinions are valid because the occasion arose, not presenting a proposal for creating an enforceable rule. And I'm confused because we started the thread just to report what happened/see if there was anything we could/should do.

Thanks for the tip about the browser (mine's Safari); I thought it just might not be displaying my posts right because I made them. It made sense at the time. *smacks forehead*
