I think it was around 2000 or 2001 for me, I knew about the org but I refused to go here because there were no pretty pictures, but my friend Eric (as I mentioned in my earlier post) was all over it.
he even told me that he could see me getting into the hobby one day and I said "no, I don't think so" so just watching AMVs at first wasn't enough to get me into the hobby...
then the more amvs I watched the more I wanted to see amvs (or song/anime combos) that didn't exist or I couldn't find and well I never thought of trying to get someone to do it for me or requesting one, cause I figured that they wouldn't do it how I liked so I might as well make them myself O.o

It wasn't my very first, but the first one that made a lasting impression on me (hence that I can remember) was the same as Kionon's in this post: Utena - "Torn" (Natalie Imbruglia), produced by Maison Otaku.
First saw it in 2000/2001 or so, and at the time was blown away by the whole process of AMV making. It was also one of the things that got me interested in creating motion graphics, since I realized these videos were created by average anime fans with PCs, no special expensive equipment or years of training.

I'm pretty sure the first AMVs I came across were at the University of Texas Anime club, Big Big Truck had brought in some of her own videos as well as several other creators at the time's videos. I remember seeing her video Crazy-Ass Violence and some of Maboroshi's videos. Then I got online and found the OtakuVengance site and downloaded a few videos from there...and then, didn't think about it anymore until I got bored back in 2003 and decided to see if I could make a video myself.
Life's short.

It was scary, but I still recall that night around 8 years ago...
It was almost midnight in a strangers house.
All the lights were out and I was surrounded by single male nerds.
They were whipping out their epenis toys to try and impress me.... the biggest toy was a projector and then there was music and anime and I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more just to be the man who walked a thousand miles.... and it continued into sarah brightman and finally after hours and us wondering why "RIGHT NOW we needed more anime" and how desperate a guy must be to race a car on a pushbike just'cause the blonde busty driver was wearing a red dress until finally our heads were nodding in time to Wer zu Lebzeit gut auf Erden, wird nach dem Tod ein Engel werden
I left saying thinking how boring these geeks were that they were actually entertained by all that stuff.

Right now, someone has the wrong idea.
It was a "I'll invite all my nerdy friends and 1 girl around and make them watch amv's" night... how is that the wrong idea as an answer to the topic?

And this is why Kio doesn't make comedy videos.
