99% of what he says is nonsense.

As for this guy who seems to think he's in every right to lambast Phade for "crippling our creative process" by complying the the record label's demands and forbidding the uploading of vids from 3 bands.....3 bands...just 3....it's not even a ripple in the water that would hurt the "creative process". It would be as if 3 stars in the night sky where to just dim out...no one in a general sense would notice, and that is how unimportant the loss of 3 bands is considering the grand scale of trouble this site and community has avoided. I say give Phade mad props for keeping the site alive all this time, and into the future if it manages to last long enough.

If I make fun of phade and write very very long paragraphs, will I also get this much attention?

I hope not, but then again, it seems like a very slow day. Is phade even still alive? Man, he was old. And he has kids! Imagine that!

No matter the fact that A) those that donated are likely not in the group to ditch just because of something of that matter, especially in the context and facts it was presented in - it was understandable and smart to concede, despite how much frustration it caused - after all, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people that got their video downloads disabled don't donate anyway, with the exceptions that also probably frequent the forums regularly; and B) less available downloads = less used bandwidth = more freed costs. This is also assuming that people only donate because of the hosting, which I'm sure isn't true (my memory of the pre-Dangling Carrot 'Org isn't too clear anymore, though, so take that as you will).

Sure, other videos or other videos by those creators that ditched may still be there, but I mean, how many actual available downloads actually had to be disabled in the Wind-Up incident? Any estimates on freed bandwidth resulting from that? I'm sure that while videos to presently-OK music will catch up and fill the gap left by the absense of Evanescence, Creed, and Seether, that it still means that much less bandwidth being used that would have been allotted to those videos.

I do agree that it did seem quite a bit like someone who had a bone to pick on here, though.
I do not support the local system at all. I want it to go back to links on other people's servers.
I've made, I think, ONE evanesence video, and I'm not pissed about them being taken off the .org.

I donate. XP

I'd just like to say that I've been an AMV fan much longer than an AMV creator, and I remember the beginning of a-m-v.org. Anyone else remember how much of a PAIN it was looking for videos before Phade made this awesome site? I think I had something like 150 websites saved in my favorites just for those. Then... the org came along. And suddenly, life was so much simpler. I remember signing on in the "early days" once a week and downloading every new video that had come out that week - it was usually like, 5-10 vids, if that. lol How far a-m-v.org has come...
So where would we be without the org? Hours of tedious searching online through bad video sources (like youtube and google video) and bad LPZ videos just to find that one gem hidden in the rubbish. Here, not only do we have all the gems lined up and polished and glistening for us, we also have a family. And we have Phade to thank. If he wants to try to save our home without an expensive and probably futile legal battle, well that's his perogative, and I say power to him.

This guy on your forum is a complete idiot and obviously hasn't been an AMV fan long enough to remember what it was like before we had a comprehensive database of AMVs. Tell him to go straight to hell for me, man.

Long live Phade. (^^)b

I miss OT, why did Phade buckle under the pressure of the anti-OT agenda?

I find sad that 99.(9)% of replies here are comments on that guy's sanity. He supported his argument with logic (however flawed you might think it is), why not fight his arguments with your logic, if you think it's so superior to his? Flaming makes it seem like he triggered quite a bit of insecurity in you with his posts.

Well, I realise that that horse was probably beaten to death in every imaginable way in the original threads. But I didn't followed them back then, hence my impression now.

I don't agree with all (or maybe even most) of what he said, but there are some valid points behind his posts. I just saw this in another thread:
One way I can think to acquire AMVs besides the org is to use [MOD99: Filesharing program suggestion removed.] which is actually how I discovered a-m-v.org
Don't you feel you're being a bit too uptight about it around here? Also, where I can find a list of banned words - I'd like to avoid using them just in case, to not bring a ban upon myself (and to avoid my posts being edited by someone, because for some strange reason I'm not deemed worthy of editing them myself).

I generally couldn't care less about those three bands (well, I kinda loved My Evil Alien, this thread made realise it's one from the blacklisted bunch). Most of you don't care about them either. The point is, it set a precedent. What band or titles are going to be blacklisted next? Perhaps you won't care about them either. But, a little bit here, a little bit there, and eventually you'll end up with... what?

But maybe that's just an American thing you're so happy to accept that.

He's just your typical "glass is half empty" pessimist that cries about 3 bands being not available anymore instead of the "glass is half full" optimist that, like most of us, is saying "I'm glad it only affected 3 bands and a couple thousand AMVs and not the other thousands of musical artists and tens of thousand AMVs listed on this site."

I find the stubbornest, loudest, and most opinionated people tend to make very intelligent (or seemingly intelligent) and mainly coherent posts. What they generally don't do is take a step back and think to themselves, "Could these other people have a valid point? Could I be wrong in some way?" They don't want a debate, they just want to argue. If I wanted to read or see stuff like this, I could just turn on Fox News. :|
