art is art - amvs are amvs.
Application
If I want art in an amv then I would just have to figure out a way to incorporate it.

expression isn't necessary in art. art and hobby aren't mutually exclusive.

art involves the artist's and viewers' (which may mean one person) evaluation of the work against any aesthetic standards. it doesn't mean the artist is aiming the work at other people. it doesn't mean the artist cannot be motivated simply by self-satisfaction or diversion. and as people have been saying, art does depend on the beholder. if you are judging something against aesthetic standards, you are viewing it as art. if not, you don't see it as art, though it may have been created with artistic intent.

Art is anything humans create that isn't for a strictly functional purpose. A 3 year olds scribblings are art. Drawing stuff in the snow with your pee is art. Shaping your mashed potatoes into the grand canyon is art. AMVs are art. None of these are GOOD art but they're all art.

Other than that statement, Beo already made any further point I'd consider making. Quit worrying about if what you're doing is art and start doing shit that is good for a change.
