I was a big bully in school, but since those tactics don't work in the work place, I have to fill the void with something. Plus, what the hell else I'm a gonna do with all this HDD space?

For me AMVs have introduced me to some great anime and songs I wouldn't have bothered watching or listening to. So that's one of the reasons I wanted to make them, to share the anime and music that I like with others. Well the other reason would have to be because I've got a semi-God-complex  If you play Sims you know what I'm talking about :P I mean where else but here can Yuna and Seymour be together and Transformers sing Rammstein and whatever other such kind of twisted nonsense that makes these great...notice neither of those are my ideas hence the "semi" infront of God-complex...I like the idea of screwing with the stories but can't always bring myself to do it...it's just WRONG sometimes! Oh poor Yuna! XD
So yeah, that's why I do it. :)

Usually it's because in a flash of inspiration the song *is* the character I'm making an AMV of. One time it was because an acquaintance of mine said (in more words) "All You Wanted"+Chloe=LOVE! The other AMVs I plan on making are either so each Noir character gets a video to her own image song (except "Life for a Dream" 'cause it's already been done to the English version of the song Altena sings), but also so my favorite Noir songs will have video, espacially Apres le Noir, which too few people have heard of. Actually, I'm planning on doing an AMV to "Salva Nos--Dialogue Remix" not only so Mireille will have a video to her image 'song', but also for a cool IMO effect I have planned for the end.
Am I supposed to just walk up to someone and say 'Hello. My name's Kirika. I kill people in my spare time'?

DTJB wrote:I'm sure everyone has his or her own reason for making AMVs. My reason is because I enjoy entertaining people. Even if the material I use isn't my own. I was inspired to make them long before I knew others had already done so. When I first got into anime, at some point I figured, "whoa. Wouldn't it be cool if someone put this stuff to rock music?" This was before I discovered the community we have here. AMVing also allows me to show off what I love in the worlds of anime and music and exactly why I love each so much.
Because, when Napster died and Kazaa was actually cool I saw an AMV (Living in the Fridge: Cowboy Bebop) and I was like ' Holy shit this is cool I want to make an AMV ' and then I saw (Maxwell Murder: Outlaw Star/Cowboy Bebop) and then I was like, that's it I'm making an AMV.

Then, over the years, it grew into a hobby and now I do it because its fun and I love the audience reactions to my videos. To have a packed room laugh and cry over your video is just a tremendous feeling.

Now to have an award added to that feeling ;P

There is no amv that would motivate me enough to make an amv.

Well, I was 12 when I saw those AMVs. :P Think with the mindset of a 12 year old anime fan.
