Dude, somebody recently gave one of my videos a "5" in overall and then said in the comments that it was really good except that it sucked, but it was way better than they could do - which all equals a big ball of WTF.

People are strange. There is no way to explain this or figure out What It All Means. Either accept it or forget about it.

Hey Wong, care to trade? I got several videos with ~3.5 star average but the op scores are below site average. All we gotta do is go pester an admin...

OTOH you could just figure the star average is popular appeal and in a world where people can tell you the entire cast of Friends but couldn't come up with the name of a a single song that Mozart composed popular appeal doesn't mean much. I quit worrying about star averages when I released a video I later decided sucks and deserves at best a 2 actually has a 3.59 average.

actualy....iwhat made me upset and START this whole thread...was the fact that my crappies vid, Misery, has over a 3.1 average...its short, and not even that well made....has no point to it, just has a bunch of clips...totaly random, not even faded, just linked together, so it took me like....20 mins to make...

while the vid that took a lot of thought, and is my artistic piece(while it does not follow conventional editing methods), a better piece imnsho, has a 2 sumthin average. Even all my other vids that are better then that silly Misery one....have lower star ratings. I only have one op on Misery too. Just struck me as funny, that because i show stuff blowing up, and has a cool song, people like it.

This is why i will never win a con, because i always send the vids you have to think about, more then just eye candy.

Anyway, this is why i said I hate star ratings, because a mass of noobs saw my shitty vid and thought it was soooo much better then the ones i have to put a creative touch into. Pissed me off.

lmao....like my reason for this thread was any worse then the "Flashy vids are overrated" thread, or the "Someone copied my idea" thread.

and until i see in the forum description about how this is the General AMV forum to talk about everything other then your opinion on something.....i will keep posting my opinions on such matters.

Plus, if you would have read all of my posts, you would see that i did have a valid point, and that this pro vs con debate about star ratings was pretty good. Granted..it seems the majority seems not to care...but since i am an o.0 here i thought the ratings were of more import then if your type of vid would show up on someones Suggestion Querry report.

But then again, i would like my vids to show up on everyones SQ report...but thats wishfull thinking.

Join the club. My second vid ever made, and by far not what I think is my best, is doing over a 3.8 average, and is one of my highest rated vids. My fourth vid, the one that only took me an hour to do because I literally threw stuff in there in a fun order, is also doing really well. However, some of my deeper, more significant and better edited ones are averaging less. O_o Um...ok...
It just goes to show that sometimes your own opinion will definitely differ from others.

Lol, I'm pretty sure all of us can relate to this. I doubt there's a single person who hasn't had to resist pointing out how *insert negative adjective here* people can get (although, some show less restraint than others).
