My mum is kinda suportive. Hmm well not financially (to speak of my hardware would kill kittens). And she doesn't really watch whatever I might be working on, even when I offer. I'm sure there's some support.

My sister is always on my back about them. Hurry up nad get to work... etc. She's made a few herself and is getting quite good, well better than many.

My friends see me as some kind of AMV giant. :? While many of them are in agreeance that AMVs in general aren't all that great (I don't blame them) they'll watch and criticise whatever I haapen to have to show.

I still haven't gotten mine... should I sent them some money or an e-mail or something?
Yes,you should probably send them an email. You're videos were awesome (way better than mine) and you totally deserve to have the award.

My family are generally impressed with what I slap together. They don't actually "support" my editing, but they do seem genuinly impressed with what I've done so far.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

ive shown a countless number of people mine and some other of my favorite AMVs... well ok to estimate id say about 40. out of that many people only 1 of them had ever heard of AMVs and most of them had never watched anime. only one fucking asshole claimed to be utterly unimpressed by them, but he is an insecure fucko who feels threatened by the intellect of others.
most people watch in awe and tell me im a computer god/genius.
as far as family goes my entire extended family will gather around my computer everytime they come over to see my latest work. my parents and siblings love them too.

That was good times :D

My family is pretty supportive of my hobby. They aren't always proud of my decisions, choosing anime over food/bills some months, but I am on my owns so they see it as my decision as to what is right or wrong in my life. Either way they see it as a constructive hobby, as opposed to some of the other less positive things I could have chosen (they just don't know about the alcohol. ) My friends likewise are quite into my vids. My best friend Mike and neighbor Randy are my two best beta testers. Good for me, bad for their sanity. Mike's wife unfortunately thinks all anime is porn, but still takes time to view some of my more "on-the-level" videos. And Matt (AKA: AMV_4000)... considering he's the Eminem of the AMV community, I guess I'd be Dr. Dre. We bounce ideas off one-another, and provoke each other to do horrible things. Tons of fun!

My 'family' as in what most people are referring to makes a passing attempt at being interested in my editing because, in my parent's case, they think they should at least pay attention to what takes up a good amount of their son's spare time, but seeing as how I'm nearly 29 and haven't lived with them for the last 10 years, it doesn't take much effort on their part  My brother (who will be starting HS next year) is slightly more interested, but would only really be interested if I made a DBZ, Pokemon, Yugi-Oh or the likes video. I'm not even sure if he's got the cel of Goku I got him for his birthday a few years back hanging up at the moment. *shrug*

Much more locally, my wife is extremely encouraging of my interest in video editing in general and of my application of it to AMVs. She was a telecom major in college and currently works in the television business, so she can't really criticize me if she wanted to. :P But, she is quite supportive of me- which is good in that she's understanding about my spending hours on end sitting in front of the computer rotoscoping something (and she actually knows that the means to... :D). What's amusing is that her parents are actually far more interested in my work (at least in part because we live so much closer to them and see them more often). My mother-in-law loves Who Let the 'Fros Out.

Unfortunately given our current situation, I don't have a whole lot of friends outside of work that aren't my other editor friends or friends from the anime club in college so on the whole my friends are quite supportive. My co-workers are at least a bit interested, and were quite happy when I gave them copies of my DVD for Christmas

Well, I would have to say my family's pretty supportive overall about me making AMV's... Probably because they know I'm not stopping at just that.

My brother I would have to say is my most critical source of technical feedback. he can take something I spent weeks making and make it sound like its total garbage. then suggest things I can do to improve it.

My friends although are also a great help and encourage me, but since everything in my life pretty much disappears when I'm working on an AMV. They get bored sometimes when All I have to talk about is what im working on.
But still they support me and drag me to the bar when I need a night off!

My war video made my mom cry. Not sure if that's good or bad. o.o

So they're generally supportive, and my brothers think it's really cool. They always try to get me to make videos to their favorite songs. :? But none of them are a source of encouragement really, and I know my step-dad doesn't like me spending time in front of my comp.

my mom thinks it's good that i can make some videos and work out the creative side. she was always into making me do stuff with the arts. my younger older sister thinks it is really nice. she wants to do this type of stuff with family pictures and videos of the family so she is into the process more but hasn't done anything yet except with a video camera and a vcr. some of my friends thinks it is cool. one is into it too so he knows the deal.
