I love that analogy! Seriously!

In my view, AMVing can be as personal as that, and you're certainly playing your audience as much as the audience is playing you. It's a mutual exchange and, in the end, hopefully both parties leave satisfied. Or not. It's not a matter of where you stick it, it's a matter of how good it feels to both yourself and the other party.

I can't argue with this. I know a large amount of AMVs make me feel like I was just fucked over after I watch them.

I think we need both
I mean yeah u could just make some kind of a hit or something on a beat but it would be a lot better if u had samoe kind of a tunder or a clash or something like that to go with the hit
I mean just sync is no good(unless u have somekind of a great scene) thats where the effects take part to make the sync effect even better

Personally I find the classification of internal and external synch to be a bit lacking, I think it's better to just list the various kinds of synching individually. Scene jumping, frame jumping, animated action synch, flash bang (includes any kind of effects overlays).

You can also synch to different things too, obviously the beats are most obvious but you can also synch to the melody, the lyrics, etc.
