If you want a series to be longer just write fanfiction!(but don't make anyone read it)

all you need is photoshop, MS paint, etc.

btw.

"...a lens flare is often used to deliberately invoke that same sense of drama." From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

in conclusion, if you want to make a believable serious/dramatic amv, use lens flares. all the cool kids are doing it.

I tend to avoid vids that are so full of effects you can't even see the anime behind them.

I believe that effects have a place in a video. but it takes a very skilled hand to make effects work.

Pre canned effects like transitions have been used properly but most of the time you will find that people just throw a ton of these things to try and hid the fact that they threw a buncha clips on the timeline.

When you can take every effect out of your timeline. and still have people say "that really made me feel somthing" or "holy crap that had some awsome sync"

Then you can think about adding flashy shit to your videos.

Its not the effects that make a video good. Its the skill put into those effects that make a video good.

Be it either skills at special effects.. or just skills at telling a good story.. you need skills before you can have good effects..

Im sure you have all seen the people that throw a ton of precanned shit onto a single track dbz video and call it a music video.... but its not.. its just a pathetic attempt to bling up a pile of crap and it dosent work.

I guess what im saying is... Its whats inside that counts.
Close calls are always the most exciting. Coming close is always the most dissapointing.

My newest vid:

They feel nekkid...
Yeah, but they're HAWT :O I really enjoyed Rock Fully Mad.

And I'm all about some effects, but never without reason. Tis what kills me about hollywood these days...nobody worries about the story anymore. They just don't understand that if you have the story solid, then subtle use of effects make it go from a good movie to a GREAT movie. Good examples: Sin City, The Prestige, Children of Men (just to name a few random ones I've watched lately)

Or, in Decoy's case, I love BTB because it's just amazing to look at and fun as hell to watch. Some people will say overkill, but I think he did well in stylizing his source. Each segment reflects the character it portrays (as covered in dots as it is)

MOAR DOTS.

I think it's the opposite...
If you take out effects from the video, and the video is still making people feel something, then effects weren't neccessary.

The story is not all what makes the art what it is...
Did you ever watched a movie done Peter Grenaway? His all about experiments, with effects, with music, with compositing... He even admits he doesn't give a damn about story cuz he wants to show something through his work, that is hidden in the form not in the story... And still his movies are awesome (though strange).

This is very true...I guess that's why this is a topic that gets beat over and over again. It's different if you're trying to tell a story with your vid as opposed to creating a "visual experiment." I think people get caught up too much in the "hey, WHY did you do what you did" instead of maybe "hey, that's kinda cool. I don't get it, but it's kinda cool." And then there's just plain attention whoring :)

I love Effects..but you just ahve to have the right Flow. If you throw out just a tons of effects without the real feeling, then it looks crappy =\ I also love a lots of Videos without much Effects. For myself I am just not good with Effects..My AMV's have more cuts and Flashes than crazy Effects.. SOme People say it hurt their eyes, but i just think their

a) jeoulous because my Synching rules xD

b) Their juts sissys and cant take that lovely seizures :D

I remeber in the past I was someone who was like: WOWW EFFECTS! THAT IS THE EBST AMV EVER! But i learned that I was damned wrong =\

The Flow is the only Thing that counts.
