not an argument i would make. if they brought back an OT section, i'd rather not have each thread need to create amv-related discussion.SnhKnives wrote:isnt that the arguement that should be taken to bring back the OT section?
the following isn't specifically directed at snhknives:SnhKnives wrote:as for here, ive seen far too many threads like this be locked for the reason of it being off topic. Why this one was exempt is beyond me. I say if you are going to get rid of anyoff topic discussion, then do it. Don't try to fluff it up with "omg well, its creating amv discussion"
bah humbug lots of off topic threads have that the mods have locked. why is this one different, i say
yeah, i've noticed similar threads locked. some i agree should be locked and some i don't agree with. this thread i don't believe should be locked (at least not yet) for reasons stated above. i urge you not to base your judgments on whether a topic should be locked or not on past moderator behavior, but rather on your own reasoning and values. locking a thread has its benefits and costs (a whole nother topic); which one outweighs the other depends on the nature of the topic and its posters, not what moderators have locked in the past.
yes, there is the argument of mods being inconsistent if they don't lock this, but let's leave that for them to decide. don't let behavior of the mods govern your value judgments or else discussion on the forums will deteriorate. independent thought is a dying breed here.
i've said the following before, but if you think the thread is off-topic, leave a note in the mod drop box, instead of hijacking the thread with "offtopicplzkthx" posts and batman pics.
