Yea, I make crap on occasion. Frankly, it's more fun making it than anything else. When I'm making crap, I do it consciously and getting the most entertainment out of it for myself. Compared to serious efforts, the editing process for crap videos is actually not nauseatengly boring (I mentioned somewhere that I hate the actual process of editing. When making crap, I can actually slack off and do funny stuff that provides editor comic relief which is badly lacking in more serious efforts)

Realistically, I don't expect anything out of star ratings. In fact, I'm amazed all of this crap is rated over >3. Which I don't think it should be.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yeah, there are AMV creators who make nothing but crap. The star system, however, is not the way to figure out who's making crap and who isn't.

Case in point: My video "Puppets and Bugs," which I regard to be one of my best, is rated a 2.80, the lowest out of all my videos. Yes, that means it's lower than "That's Some Bad Feedback," which in fact has a 2.94.

Rather depressing, really.

Is it really that depressing? Everyone has individual taste, the more a video is your favourite, the more individual it is to you. It seems many creators in all fields (novels, films, art) find that their most popular creation isn't their favourite by a long way,

And Oto, I feel your love of making crap videos, it's the most fun ever. I'm staying true to the cause. But you went and made The Wasteland, you fucking sellout.

I just enjoy making them. (But then thats probably why my vids suck >_<)
No you've only been at it for, what a month? Enjoying making them is what gives you the potential to make great videos. Just remember one thing, make videos that make YOU happy, the rest will follow all by itself.

If you've ever seen Bad Feedback, then yes, it is that depressing.

He, he, he...don't be too depressed about it. Depending on who you are and what you do, most ratings and opinions in this community are based more on your personal character rather than the quality of the video itself. I even had one guy who was so bold he even admitted to giving me a low opinion simply because he didn't like me as a person. ^_^

So the bottom line is, don't pay them much mind, most people who give you low scores are probably just jealous that they lack the talent or they're scared that your talent will surpass theirs. And all these people who are like, "just make videos for fun!"...yeah, they're lying to you and possibly to themselves. If you REALLY just made videos for fun, you wouldn't even BOTHER listing them on the .org. The only real reason to list your videos on the .org is for the competition, the rivalry of it all. And there are no shortage of things you can compete against, even yourself if you want.

The interesting thing you'll find with a lot of people who give you REALLY bad reviews, is that they most always use SOMEONE ELSE'S work as a basis of comparison. If you asked any one of them though if they thought one of their videos surpassed yours...most would say no, some would try and fein ignorance and claim that it's all subjective. Really though, it's not, if all art was completely subjective then there simply wouldn't BE any famous artists, cause they would all be famous. Art is not subjective, that's just a lame excuse that people like to use when their deficient in skill. `, )
