i like the myspace profile's flexibility, actually. and with effort they can look nice. but, most people don't.
Agreed. I spent hours on mine....and it still came out shitty XDDD but ive seen some really nicely made ones :3 made me jealous x3

Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load.

that would be great, but I think it would take longer for stuff to load;
on here, its simple and people with slow connections can load pages withought a problem[:
- -
although I am a bg maker for youtube, i must say, they dont affect how a page loads *points at myspce*
on myspace, they now giv you the option to turn bgs off, for the page to load faster.
;;on youtube, the channels are not the most important part of the site, since it isnt a social networking site. mainly a video stream.

you dont have to download the videos here to comment or leave an opinion. Log-in and just use the preview option. You still get to rate the video, comment and leave your opinion. The only thing is that when leaving an opinion, we ask you to base the quality rating on the download and not the streaming option. Still, there is nothing preventing you from giving an opinion from just using the preview option

EDIT:
Shinnie04 wrote:Personally I don't think the Org needs anything like this. I like the Org's simplistic layout and I think making things too customizable can really affect the convenient and straight forward interface of our profiles. If you want to show your skills in still image editing, I think you should stick to Youtube or linking to Deviantart or whichever other site you use to upload artworks.
I think shinnie is just mad that no one mentioned his awesome YT layout: http://www.youtube.com/user/shinnie04
:awesome:

Honestly, I'm all for profiles with some custom settings. Because the website still needs to look organized and such, things should still be restricted. For instance, in order to avoid profiles with weird and unreadable colors, we should be allowed to choose from color schemes or something.

Still, I think everyone needs to take a step back and think about how these custom profiles will look with the current site layout. Honestly, how much can you do with how the page is. The layout changes for each user that comes to your page because of which ever menus they may have collapsed. There is no set limit on how long a page is because all the videos are on one long list. The right side of the page also has quite a bit of info on it. On top of all this, the site itself does not have a simplified color scheme. Most of the time, things like custom colors will clash with the site's look. On Youtube, you've got four basic colors and some slight variants of it. Two of which, are black and white. So, on a place like Youtube, there is a lot more room to customize things for the users because the site itself simplified.

Some things that I can see being possible with how the site looks now are:
Custom Color Themes
- This can be done three ways.
1) Make it so that people can choose a color scheme for their page that people will see when they come to their page
2) Let users choose the color scheme that they want to view the entire site in.
3) A mix of both of the above. User chooses color scheme to view site in and then the color scheme switches when they go to a profile with custom settings

Customizing what is shown on the profile
- Basically, a user can choose what information people can see on their profile. Give users the option to hide things like their opinion stats, usefulness, journal, etc.
- Give users a 'Top Videos' option so that only a certain amount of videos chosen by the user display at first and then an option to see all videos.
- Option to hide favorite videos and anime. Some of us like to have the lists for our own references and dont feel like displaying it on out page.

This is all I can think of from a design stand point without changing how the site looks that much. I really dont even know how feasible this is from a programing perspective.

I can't help but think people would abuse this somehow.

What I meant by that is I know that the code of the site is locked down and will be for a while due to licensing reasons and the general structure of the org code. It's not about the abilities of the programmers but about the flexibility (or lack of it) in the site code.
