Oversync can be good but in small doses.

Double post. Sorta like what some people say about moe. But I have to disagree about Moe. You can never have to much.

It's just a term made by ppl who don't appreciate good syncing :awesome:
I agree. If the vid was designed by the maker to be literal sync, despite how 'badly' the mood is, then that's how it was intended. If you don't like it that's YOUR choice ^_^

So yes, there is no oversynch imho, there IS undersync though I think, cause if you're changing and editing scenes without ANY attention to lyrics OR beat of the song, then you're just playing footage with bgm...

"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)

i dont think oversync can be universally defined, for every different the threshold where the sync is over the top for each person differs.
but i guess that if i had to generalize it it would be the point where the video emphasizes sync of any kind to the point where it detracts from the videos overall value.

Syncing every beat or other syncable tune without thinking about the consequences such as a possible distruction of mood, atmosphere or flow.

Good syncing is if you have the guts to skip some beats or syncable tunes for the benefit of the video. For example: Even a blind monkey can sync every drum beat.

I think I can agree with that quote.

Call me a pussy then. I take issue with videos that try and throw too much at you at once, like cutting every 10-15 frames for the majority of the video. There's a difference between great action synch and a total epileptic mess. It's more to do with flow than synch I believe.

(and while I do suck at editing actiony videos, I don't mind rapid movements...I can twitch shot like an aimbot  )
