I just do what I'm told...

The only two 'collabs and not MEP's' you could say I've been apart of were Our Innocence and RoS5. RoS5 was just people who were in the same place wanting to make a vid, so we split it up MEP style and each took a different track and different computer and edited, then one person put them all together.

With Our Innocence, the idea for the video was something that I'd had before the movie was even released and I wanted it to be my Pro video for the year, and so with Brad happening to get the DVD right at the Pro deadline, we decided that we would edit it together since neither of us had a video. He sent me a MJPEG of the DVD and we both took certain parts of the movie and certain parts of the song. We talked about general ideas for our parts, and then edited them. We beta'd each others parts and then he put it together and tagged on the beginning and end, and we had a video...worked pretty good for us hehe.

I just think it depends on the type of people you're collaborating with. Certain personalities and editing styles work well together and make things alot easier. Brad has alot more creative vision then I tend to have, so we work pretty well together because we don't usually clash on the creative ideas.

Numero dos (2)
Though efficient and quick, it just doesn't compare to what you'd get from working on everything together.
Then again, you get more of a blend of two different styles rather than something that looks similar from various editors.

#2 has often been the most organized/easy way of making a Collab/MEP for me.

nio's method is something i've been thinking about for a while. It'd be cool to take it further and really play to particular strengths. But by the time you've got a creative director, roto artists, compositors and an editor, you've practically got your own post house (:

everyone around here is so used to doing the lot singlehandedly, i expect it would be hard to persuade people to hand over their work to be butchered by the designated editor.

the method i actually employ is to just say 'i'll work on my bit tomorrow'.

The ultimate tactics:

A: You see there is a alot happening n' stuff lately.
B: Ok let's expand the deadline then.

1 year later:
B: You see there is a alot happening n' stuff lately.
A: Ok let's expand the deadline then.

Step 1: Spend 4 hours looking up a picture of a crippled loli.

Step 2: Offer a suggestion and have Cal start yelling "NO! THIS IS HOW I EDIT I'M NOT CHANGING FOR YOU OR ANYBODY ELSE!"

Step 3: Waffle therapy.

Step 4: Ileia tells us where scenes are.

Step 5: Video edits self.

Step 6: Jay yells "a lot."

Step 7: We play poker.

Step 8: We play guitar hero.

Step 9: Brad wants to know how to argue.

Step 10: Noodles! Snoring!

Step 11: Sleep.

Step 12: *finger quotes*Thinking*finger quotes*

Step 13: Callin' in sick to work.

Step 14: Postin' on the forums.

Step 15: Remove the milkbag from the holder.

Step 16: Cut a hole in the box.

Step 17: ???

Step 18: Profit.

Step 20: Poker

Step 21: I had a 5 6 8 9 10 straight

Step 22: find step 19

Step 19: Ileia says that's enough steps.

I would say that #2 is the most common thing to do, because it's easy and leaves no room for difficulties.
Trying method one and three is actually very tempting, although I think that it might not work for me ^_^
