1. I do not own an IPod and don't care to as long as other companies continue to produce higher quality portables. (Yes, they exist. You just don't hear about them because of Apple's hype/bandwagon.)
I bought this in Nov 06
Archos 604 Wifi
Despite coming out several months before the iPod touch/iPhone it has:
- A large widescreen with both a touch and button based interface.
- Wifi with the ability to play files over your network and browse websites
- a TV docking station for external playback and DVR capabilities (optional)
- a removable battery
- a kickstand for table top viewing
- plays most divx encoded files out of the box. I have a couple of plugins that add mpeg and h264 playback.
2. It's currently holding 323 AMVs from my "good" and "favorites" folders.

I have to say, I actually used my video iPod as a video player, and it was pretty sweet. I miss it
But I got it as a birthday present - and there's no way I'd ever afford one myself, so as cool as it was, I don't think I'm getting a player like that any time soon. Which in a way is good because listening to music on the street in headphones is bad for my health and my hearing is already shot

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I have a bunch of AMVs on my DS, it can't handle high bitrates or fast cuts that well at all.Sukunai wrote:If I want to watch amvs on a fucking small screen, I think I'll just use my damned Nintendo DS.
Same small screen, same small thrill.

Samsung YP-P2. Touchscreen's not as responsive as the iPod, but the sounds is much nicer. It also doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
It's "only" 4gb, but I'm not one of the "OMG i have to put EVERY SONG I EVER LISTENED TO IN MY LIFE on my music player!" crowd (although I do have quite a few tracks on there). Plus I still have room left over for several episodes of House and BSG. And oh yeah, it has an FM tuner as well (something Apple STILL has yet to include, while everyone else worth a damn has long since made it a standard feature).

I have an iPod. I wish I didn't. I got it mainly for AAC support and on the strength of all the rave reviews (bad move I know).
It only has fixed sound presets (no user EQ)
The sound quality is bad (bass gets way distorted with some of the EQ presets)
Retarded software (iTunes...)
When the battery is low, it gives you a warning and it's impossible to then turn the iPod off?
I'd consider something else, but I like the AAC/MP4 support iPod has, especially since I've ripped all my CDs to that.
