It really was an effort to not flame the individual :\
Somehow. I don´t get it. Of course there is a more structured way. It´s just a point of viewing things.

If I would be a company I would go after problems in this way. Why should I hunt down the small fishes when I can get the big white whale?

No, this still doesn´t mean that there is no risk that this site can´t get into big trouble. It´s just not easy to calculate if there will be these problems in the future. That´s all.

How many millions have I lost with this action?
This is what I disagree with. They will never realize any loss of revenue is a direct result of their policies and actions - they will continue to blame it on the consumer. In America at least - I mean, hell, mindsets like that work in politics and business just fine.

Oh my point was more: I invested 1 billion into and in the end spared... a whatever.

I highly agree with you! Those things will hardly change. It would be really nice to see more human acting at a giant business. If "they" would close the .org I´m sure that I´ll never buy an anime dvd. As "they" closed Oink I hardly bought music cds and switched to legal free stuff like from Jamendo and I´m as well pleased with it. I still get free music from my favorite bands like NiN, because the artists go a new way of investing and it seams to work.

Oh well. It´s not really about closing sites. It´s more about all the people they sued for really minor ( < 100 mp3s) things just to make an exampel and I´m sure that there are still relative big sites around who make money with selling you accounts to download illegal sources from theire webspace. How shouldn´t I get upset?

I wouldn't say any big business is loosing money by prosecuting people. They have lawyers on retainer - they get paid either way... Might as well make them work for their money, no?
