I've been researching all of these and I'm finding some really great ones (the Fullmetal Panic FUMOFFUU episode with the hot-springs adventure is a classic). Of course, if anyone knows of a good Bittorrent site for some of these (without subs) I can probably finish it this week.

Another legal way of obtaining the footage is to rent the DVDs or borrow them from a friend (or find friends that own many anime DVDs and then borrow).

Ironically, I've bought many new anime DVDs in the last year and a half, but I've also been unable to finish editing an AMV.
