I think a lot of very experienced and popular editors still haven't accepted some trends in AMVing as "valid" or "good".
That's because they're not.

I haven't participated in the VCAs ever. I think of them in the same light I think of quick comments and stars: essentially useless tools in the hands of a fickle and uneducated populace. But you tell me how we're going to restrict voting to "those that matter" if one can even define who "matters." I'm fairly certain I'd be on the top of many a list of "old editors who are obsolete and therefore don't matter" so what's to say my opinion is any more valid than anyone else's? So I just don't participate. It's a lot like my vote for Nader in 2000. Absolutely worthless, and the end no one knows I did it but me, but at least I feel self-righteous and smug in my non-conformity.

There was a time when getting a 7 in an op was something good. These days people bitch and moan if you give them anything less than an 8, regardless of reasoning.

Read the instructions people - a 5 is designated as average. Is your video really so fantastic that it deserves a 9 or a 10?

Only because people tend to give more ratings to the better videos.

What I'd like to see somewhere is an average of all videos' average scores (obviously only counting those with at least three ops), rather than just averaging all opinions without regard for what videos they were given to.

And people get all mad when you give them random ops filled with 3s and 4s like they deserve. =/
