But the ones that don't say much more than "good vid", "bad vid", "I don't like Hello Kitty", I will put a blanket thank you in my journal, but if they can't take the time and effort to say something interesting and useful, why should I take the time to respond? So I guess it'd be like rewarding people for leaving a good and useful op. :D
You give them something in your jounal? That's more than I do. Haha, those little one line OPs really don't deserve replies. FMS said that if it's a somewhat thought out opinion, a reply couldn't hurt.

Eh, I don't usually go out of my way, but if I'm doing an entry anyway, I just give a "And thank you to those/the person who oped my__________________ vid" And then move on.

The original post was jumping up and down saying that ALL ops no matter how small and silly should be replied to. I think what I do is enough for the small and silly ones. Heck, what you do (nothing) is enough for the little ops that should be QCs. But my opinion only counts for one vote.

Well...FMS is a pretty nice guy, I know him, and I guess he feels that even if you went through the bother of even GIVING an OP you should get a reply.

In a sense, I kinda agree with that, at least they DID Opinion it.

True. I guess it all depends on your point of view. Yes, the person did op, and they should be thanked. But those who do the one liners probably take about 2 seconds to do them and don't say anything useful. Probably about the time I take to put "Thank you for your time" in my journal. Chances are, if they don't even care enough to say something useful and put some thought into their op, they don't really care if the person responds back. Ops like that should just be left as a QC. I feel that ops are for telling the person exactly what is good and bad about the vid and what they need to improve on. QC's are for giving a couple words, maybe a sentence or 2 on what you thought of it. I hate to quote "Clueless" at a time like this, but in the words of Amber, "If she doesn't do her half of the assignment, I can't do mine." They don't do their job as an oper, I can't do mine as a responder. Besides, I never ask for ops. (Heck, I don't really think I have anything worth the time of oping right now) So it's not like I'm forcing someone to watch my vid, demanding an op, then completely blowing them off. They make their call, I make mine. If FMS feels every op should be responded to, even if its not even trying to do its job, then so be it. He is entitled to his opinion. He can respond to all those ops. I just don't feel I should reward something that doesn't even try to serve its purpose. But the wonderful thing about this world is that everyone has a different opinion, and that's what makes it an interesting place. And with all the different opinions out there, that makes different options. I don't want to sound like a heartless, ungrateful bitch, but I just don't see reason to respond to something that the person put no effort into and doesn't even serve its purpose.

Then there's the times I feel really bad about when I'm crunched for time and check my ops really quick, meaning to respond later, but I forget.

you know opinions dont have to be useful because they are that opinions, i sometimes wonder why people are always dying to have "useful" opinions... i kinda like the non "useful" ones....

but someone did take the time out to write something and fill out a form, so i think they should be thanked... but thats my take on it... plus damnit i want pink boxes :P

but seriously "thanks" takes about as much time to post to an op as it does to post in your journal so i dont really see that point... plus i think most people are more willing to read the response in the op form than the would to search out someone's journal to find it.... meh my take on it.. (unless its one of your journal stalker friends...)

One, I don't think you should force anyone who doesn't want to reply. There is really no point. Even though I typically reply to comments there are some conditions that I won't reply to. If the opinion was 3 words or less I won't reply. I'll give a silent nod of gratitude and call it a day. I don't really see the point in replying to something that short. Besides, my replies typically reflect the opinions given. If I got a long one then I'd likely give a long reply. However, I feel the shorter the op the less likely they would want to check back and read what was replied to. I do check myself since I do give longer ops than short but I'm not mad if they didn't reply either.

I used to not reply AT ALL. But recently, I've *tried* to change my ways just a little. When I do decide to reply to an op I don't really reply to the op directly, though what I do is send that person a pm. I have my reasons why I do it this way, though it's pretty irrelevant.

Generally, the only people I'll send replies of "thanks" to are those that had the time and generousity to provide me with a free opinion. Opinions I have to trade for, I usually tend not to reply to with a "thanks" or etc. It might be a messed up way to do things, but that's just me. Of course, if someones constructive commentary did indeed intrigue me, I might make an exception--even if the commentary made was from someone I traded an op with.

For the record, I do look over ALL my opinions and take any constructive commentary to heart. I just don't feel obligated to reply with a "thanks" towards the op's I had to sort of work for.

I used to say stupid things that DEMAND replies

.... wait... I still do ;p.

I don't care if I don't get a reply to my op, I just go on to the next one if I want attention  , of cource I just LOVE it when I get a reply. Especially the ones that are like "yeah! I'm suprised you noticed that! I did that on purpose, sort of as an easter egg. I didn't expect anybody to notice it!"
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Also the replys that are SERIOUSLY like over 2x as long as my op just KILL me lol.

I don't usually read them though.
