As far as actual AMV titles, I don't think it matters as long as it's appropriate to the AMV. I'll go the cheap route of taking the 'song title', if the cheap route feels like a good description of my AMV (case in point: MAMA. Don't tell me that doesn't describe that AMV if you've seen it!). Otherwise, I'll pull out all sorts of hidden references and inside jokes if I feel like it - which I've done with quite a few of my AMVs, too.

The key is descriptive accuraccy and grabbing attention. In music, I'm equally impressed with fascinatingly long but undescriptive titles (e.g. Captain Beefheart's masterpieces "Making Love To A Vampire With A Monkey On My Knee", or "I Want To Find Me A Woman That Will Hold My Big Toe Until I Have To Go") as with fascinatingly short but equally undescriptive titles (e.g. the Russian guitarist Andrei "Hoodoy" Vasiliev, with a setlist that consists of masterpieces like "Shit", "Kant", "Dog", "Wedding", "Bliss" and "Ass").

I guess what that means is that it really doesn't matter much. But I think wasting a chance to 'creatively' name an AMV is just that.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I'm with some of the others in that I'll try to pull something from the lyrics and either use it straight or combine it with the anime in some way.

Example: "Shiro Learns to Fly", using Wings of Honneamise (the main character is Shirotsugh Lardatto) set to Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly".

For the longest time I never bothered to give my AMVs a title at all, simply allowing the song's title to act in that capacity.

Face it, the title changes little, someone could call their LinkinBallZ AMV "Memoirs of a dream, exceed the Limits" or something like that, but it's still LinkinBallZ.

its because I havent been realeasing videos on a mass scale in the last few weeks.

Pretty Sparkles
Video Description - ATC - Its So Magical (Magical girl montage)
how I got the title? what do I see most in this video? Pretty Sparkles from attacks and transformations.. lmao the title is actually sarcastic on some level, those who know me understand o.0

The Pink Haired Boy
Video Description - My Chemical Romance - I'm Not Okay (Shuichi Tribute/Gravitation)
how I got the title? who is this about? Shuichi, he has pink hair (in the anime) I once mistook him for a girl (crossdressing) so I'll add "Boy" in there.. o.0

Pocket Change
Video Description - Barenaked Ladies - $1,000,000 Random (Fruits Basket stuff)
how I got the title? lmao... I wish $1,000,000 was pocket change for me!!! lol.. I donno it felt right from the get-go (kinda like my latest project's title - which is not going to be released yet.. o.0)

Just Another Heartbreak
Video Description Rob Thomas - Lonley No More (Cardcaptor Sakura)
how I got the title? modified line from the song.

that kind of annoys me. if only because i've seen a "bring <name> to life" for every character in every anime.

my last mep submission was titled @;~',~~ . i didn't give it a spoken title. the point was to avoid words and shift emphasis to the visual and musical imagery.

Putting the character's name in the song title bugs me too. It just seems tacky to me and it's done way too often.

I use the name of the song for my vid title sometimes, if I think that's what suits it best. Another major reason is that, when you see the title of the video somewhere, I like to have the title remind me of what the video was. A lot of the time, the title of a song is from its chorus or some other part of the song that stands out. Like when I see the title for "Sail On" I'm reminded of the chours, and can easily picture the video again in my head. It's annoying to see a video title that you downloaded and have to think "now which video is that again...?"

But on the other hand, a song's title might not represent your video very well. Like with Sierra Lorna's video "Searching", the song title is "Jacob's Dream". Those words aren't in the song anywhere, and don't have anything to do with the video's scenes/imagery, so she chose a title that described the video better.

Or just the anime name. Which, sadly, I've seen often enough.....
