There's a more fundamental difference.

If you take candy from a store, that store has that much less candy to sell.

If you take footage from someone else's AMV, that person still has that footage.

This is actually the same argument that is at the core of copyright "theft", and before you go blowing it off, carefully consider it. If it wasn't worth considering we wouldn't be in the mess we currently are in.

I'm not in a mess. Stealing ideas is the worst kind of stealing. If you steal candy from a store, it has less candy left. If you steal someone's idea, he has nothing left.

I'd like to add that your argument necessitates the idea that receiving instruction lessens what the instructor has, which, I hope you can see, is obviously false.

So if you invent a car that runs on love and I start building them, that'll be ok for you cause you can always invent new stuff. Yeah that makes jolly good sense. I expect that kind of reasoning from somone who was very very far away from the actual supply side of ideas.
