Sorries for the double post

Forgot to mention that I did get in contact with this person and walked her through the process of changing her opinion.

Perhaps it's time that the org considered recommending/endorsing the Combined Community Codec Pack for playback assistance.

Assembled and maintained by encoders/fansubbers/rippers who got sick of answering the same old "how cum teh vidoe wont play??!?!" questions over and over, it's a collection of open source media players, directshow filters, and misc. tools prepackaged and preconfigured to allow easy installation and provide "double click it and it plays" ease of use for almost any type of commonly used container/audio codec/mpeg 4 based video codec one is likely to come across in the world of anime on the internet.

I've installed it on my HTPC, and sure enough, it will deal with just about anything I throw at it.

Check the link for more info.

Happened to me too. In that case, the best thing is probably to stay calm and don't flame. So I just explained by email that xvid was required for my vid and for a lot of others, provided him a direct link for the codec, and kindly ask to modify is op after seeing the vid.
He changed the marks a few days later, and seemed happy to be able to read more videos on his computer...

Keep cool 8-) = always the best way
