Making an amv should I use footage with subs or not

I've never checked them out myself (I've been inactive in AMVs during the time when digisubs really took off), but I've lurked around a couple digisubber forums, and seen mention and links to sites where they get their raws from. Also, aside from avoiding subtitles, that also means it'll go through one less edit/compress cycle before the AMV is finished.
