Make a really terrible vid but give it a great writup on its information page.

You are right about the being able to deliver a message without text.
I'm not saying a paragraphs of sales-pitch validates an AMV. It obviously isn't so monochrome, and I can't speak for anyone else. I'll say because most days my free time is a rare commodity, I'll need more than a promising name, category, song, and source footage list, if it comes down to several options. I use further information furnished by the creators to decide what to prioritize.

If somebody's motivation for creator comments is your "cliff notes" senario for anotherwise great video indeed, then that is their prerogative. (I would tend toward describing it as 'sad' too) And what I said about the behind-the-scenes, history of, other perquisites stuff... That is just extra for me, not the selling point.

Honeslty, I think the place where the creator "sells" their video with information about it is not the video information page, but rather it is in their video announcment thread. But then, I also gauge whether I may want to watch it from the replies in the thread.

But see, the thing is, that wouldn't prove it... the statement was "Nothing worth writing [implies] nothing worth watching", so to do what you said would be denying the antecedent, which isn't good enough.

To prove the statement false, one would have to make a great video and not give it a writeup.

That would be it! Doing it jon's way is fairly decent however it's merely the contrapositive to the implication. Go all the way! Mach GoGoGo!!!

On a serious note: I see no reason why not (to this proposal). If anyone feels the need to do it, by all means.

Ok you´re right but I mostly set up some of the information like what program I used, how much time I spent and the lyrics. The real content of my amv´s are not in the information. But sometimes you have to give a hint what you intended to achive using some special concept or song or whatever.

Oooo, good point. Forgot about him.

Heck, he even flat-out says "my videos suck", and people still give them high scores.

I love this place, learn something new everyday. Now if only I knew how to pronounce 'antecedent'.

Oh well, anyway I like I mentioned before, sometimes I read the comments, sometimes I don't. However, I always write something down for those who'd like to know a little about my video. It's all about appealing to a wider audience. That said if a creator chooses not to fill in the comments, it's no skin off my nose. Well maybe if I end up really liking the video.
