I discovered once that if I Jogged through this Eurobeat song in Premiere Pro at a somewhat slower speed, it made it sound like 80s Hi-NRG.

But most of the audio editing I've done for AMVs has been cutting parts out of songs. Only once did I bump up the high frequencies with an equalizer (since the CD single didn't have enough) and compress the dynamic range somewhat.

not necessarily true - the sad thing is I WANTED the chipmunk voices but I couldn't figure out how to get them at the time. O.o

the project I'm currently working on blends about 4 songs together probably in a really bad way... but at the same time I think it works? I hope O.o

I never touch the song I'm using for my video. I don't even like to shorten it or cut out verses or something as nasty. It'd just ruin it :/ Although, sometime I'm tempted (AKA when it's starting to get frustrating when editing the last minute of a 6-minute song) But, anyway, audio editing in any form just isn't for me.

Indeed. As I mentioned, it's best to leave it alone as the people making the music understand more about it than me.

For example, I was talking to one of my friends who was a musician and we were asking him to shorten one of his songs down, but he told us that if he did that, it would change the flow of the song as their would be a different number of beats or whatnot, and it wouldn't sound nice overall.

That being said, when dealing with a song like "Jesus of Suburbia - Green Day" which is 9:08, there is no way in hell I'd sit through and listen to the entire thing.

It'd be cool to remix audio and then edit to that yourself

I haven't found a song yet that I don't tinker with, whether it's cutting out certain segments to make it shorter or to remove unwanted lyrics or adjusting the levels in some way to make it usable. A lot of orchestral music makes huge jumps in volume levels that can't really be accommodated in an AMV, because viewers expect to be able to hear the music clearly at all times and not have to fiddle with the volume controls every 30 seconds.

A big complaint about many AMVs is that they are too long. EDIT THE SONG and avoid this pitfall. It's not that hard and if it's done right, not many people are going to notice (those that do will most likely appreciate it, too).

IMO, it's not worth ditching an AMV concept because your favored song has three extra choruses and 60-second fade out that won't "work" with your idea. Get rid of the extra stuff and make it end when YOU need it to end.

I don't mess with my audio. I've only ever really wanted to do it once or twice, and that meant almost doubling the length at least.

I've seen it done well, but in almost every case, If I have an idea, it's for the song as it is.

I've edited my audio twice. Once for a MEP project, and another one for my intro I'm making for More than Eye Candy. They've both gone well, in my opinion, but they could have been better.

For the most part, I leave them alone.

I often manipulate the volumen of some song parts to get a better WHAM effect when the stuff crashes into for a new spot. I prefer to cut songs too. It´s easier for editing to short them sometimes, but there are some songs were I think that to cut them down would be blashphemy on this great stuff.
I tried to get along with some audio effects to make a better mix, but I failed badly. I had luck that I found some other stuff to make a good ending.

Editing your audio is a nice tool.
