also if youre wanting to "compete with kewp" don't just over filter your videos with massive effects right away, learn the basics and learn to do simple videos first.

Haha I was kidding when reffering to Koop. I don't know many AMV creators yet, but I look up to people like ScorpionP and CrackTheSky, as I have their AMVs and have seen them on the forum. Kinda inspiring.

Anyway, my theory is that if I can't do it right, I won't do it at all. I'm not prepared to be a filter whore and slam in random effects to make it seem like a advanced AMV. I know my limits, and right now I'm not going any futher than a few filters and some basic masking. The AMV I'm working on focuses more on timing, but hopefully, if I can learn AE within 2 weeks, I'll improve some of the effects.

Another thing I noticed is that I tend to download AMVs based on the anime I watch. For example, If i see a Full Metal Panic! AMV I'll download it over a Bleach AMV, even if they both use the same song. Is that strange? I tend to enjoy an AMV more when I know the anime. But I guess it is really limiting me in terms of seeing the better AMVs.

Also, the AMV I'm working on right now is using Azumanga Diaoh. Sadly, the anime is lacking in spashes of bright colour, which is why I intend to add some effects to improve that. The problem is that it might look totally inappropriate to see bright coloured effects when the anime itself is fairly dull.

Hahah I actually had to google "scintilla" before I knew what it ment.

Yeah, well the choice would be to either spend ages making everything colourful, then adding a tonne of effects, or to add only a few where it's needed. I guess when you put it that way, option 2 would be the clear choice.

I've been thinking that the judges may grade it lower because, compared to anime like Fate/Stay Night, Azumanga Diaoh is much more plain.

Btw, I'm pretty honored to actually see you on the forums. I loved Twist of Fate (am playing it now). How long did it take you to make that?
