I prefer speakers, I like having the audio at a distance, but it's not a big deal with headphones, as long as their comfortable.

I love speakers.

My family does not, especially given volumes at which I usually listen. Forget the fact that if editing, it'd be repetitive as fuck.

Fortunately, I've got high-quality Sennheiser's as my always-resorted-to backup

Headphones. I started making AMVs while living at home, and my parents hated the noise. When I moved out, I'd been using headphones so long, the habit just stuck with me. Not to mention, my computer speakers are crap.

I use headphones to do the work and actually check things every so often with the speakers to make sure i'm not waisting my time syncing to inaudible beats (though i usually still do).

your friend brings up a good point. In theory, I suppose it's not a bad idea to listen to just the main flow of the song. Listening through [lower quality] speakers would tone down all the extra accents, and background sounds; With headphones, you hear all of this, which could distract you from what is important in the song.

However, I tend to like subtle background noises, so listening with headphones afterwards would be a good idea.
