Because for the most part it isn't the anime companies that are the problem. Most anime companies seem to have adopted an unofficial 'we have to pretend we don't know what you're doing but we find it kinda cool' policy. It's the music industry that we have to worry about. AFAIK when the org was given a cease and desist then phade looked into getting a license and it just cost too much.

Well as I said that's only what I think.. As for license - I know that it's way too expensive.. I was just thinking,of maybe we could get some kind of license to our AMVs,but that's impossible since we're using footage without rights for it..
:D I like laughter ;DD

i'll rename the thread title, but i don't mean theft, i mean misattribution. and i'm only pointing at videos that explicitly misattribute an AMV. i had titled it as such to use terms more familiar with regular and casual forumgoers.

it'd be hypocrisy to complain only about redistribution without consent.

On the other hand, I think we're justified in complaining about what Boochsack does to video quality as well as the plagiarism angle.

we do things to image and image quality that the original artists/production staff may not be thrilled about

Copying and distribution doesn't bother me. I often load up my amvs into peer2peer programs and let them wander the internet uncontrolled. My issue is misattribution. And it's even more upsetting to me when a video I really like is misattributed than when my own videos are misattributed.

or ... ^__^ ... maybe a filter can be added to the AMV's which would hide the makers CopyRight in every other frame ( or randomly inserted to hidden locations within the AMV ) so that they could not be so easily found ^__^ ... 8-) ... it can be done ... it would be the same way as adding sub-titles that do not appear in the Video. ^_^

There is some way to encode a video so that if it attempted to edit it, will not work.
I know some one who tried to do this to a Playboy playmate profile video. He wanted to cut out the talking parts. All his attempts failed. When he tried to remove part of the video the whole thing did not work.he tried this with 4 differt videos from them.He said that it works kinda like this frame 1 is really frame 57 which by encoding tells it to go to the real frame 1 which is frame 109..etc.
