A short sample of what I'm working with.
Why do you even want to edit to a song like that? :? If a song is unsyncable then don't bother with it and pick something better. Otherwise the video would probably just turn out boring.
A song is only unsyncible if one hasn't the imagination for it ... or the willingness to put forth effort. Saying a song is unsycible is a cop-out IMHO. If you like the song, you will create a good video, and if it's not boring to the creator, then that's all that matter.

Cannot say this enough. A poor craftsman that blames her tools (or her resources).

So, basically, you're saying that you have no imagination or talent and have to cherry pick audio to suit your rather limited skills?
x2. I mean, clearly, I'm doing it for the lack of lulz, and not forcing myself to consider new techniques for editing to draw the viewer in, and perhaps make something that impresses if no one else myself. Point me to another amv that has music styled like this that did it well and I'll say fuck it right now.

I just did a MEP segment based on that very concept, so yes, I could charge forth with razor in (wrist?) hand and slice up clips to match, I was just curious on any sort of discernable pattern one might consider focusing on. Would layers work, or just hope the footage has enough going on to match the feel of the beat.

Purposly DONT sync it... it'll work just the same as trying to sync and failing, but with less wasted effort... you're guarenteed not to dissapoint yourself this way too!

sorry to dbl post, i heard the song, you could always fade in on the first note and fade out during the rest.. maby black and white or less color on the low tone notes... and as for the 2 strums that are close (the beginning few frames of the audio before the :01 mark).. maby piano key in? or photoshop the character in and then the background on the second strum... im guessing their guitar strums, but im not really awake enough to notice.

if all else fails... add lens flares ftw!

After listening to the music and reading through the thread, I just had to make this.

Not really meant to be helpful, so much as call out Sierra for saying such a fucking stupid thing. Although Orwell, if you do manage to get some inspiration from it, all the better (or stop smoking drugs, either works).
