If you can synch drum n' bass lke this, then I'm not going to be calling anything "unsynchable".

On a serious note, my usual approach is to let the music drive the video, and have the visuals accentuate it.trythil wrote:Give me your right nut.James Sharp wrote: But i would bet a right nut when they are going for a certain mood type of video that they look for songs that work well with the anime that they are paired with..
(This is probably backwards practice, but as I am not a professional artist and most likely never will be, I can try all the weird-ass bass-akwards things I want without world-bending criticism. So nyah.)
So I don't really care whether or not the song works with the visuals; if necessary, I can pull off manipulations to make the visuals do what I want them to do. That's the editing part.
What I do care about is whether or not I can bring out the story that I find in the music*. Vague visuals come from that and then I do whatever I can to twist stuff to make it work. From that approach, sync isn't so much something that you find as it is something that you create, which gives you a substantially greater number of possibilities.
* That sounds lame, but it's the clearest way of getting the point across.

most people i talk to who are "good amv editors" have that take on it, they let the music dictate and the visual accentuate...
and thats my approach to it... and when people ask me for advice thats what i tell them to do (or atleast i try to)
as for story... O.o i donno if people find "story" in my videos or not.
