Well...no, they aren't the same thing.

1) These forums are about AMVs, but they don't represent the entirety of everyone who makes AMVs. Some people just don't get into the forum thing. I hear tell that there are people on the internet who don't talk at all, but only lurk. Spooooky.

2) These forums are about AMVs, but also about side chatter - moreso in the journals now, I guess? Even though there's no on-site OT, people still talk by the very nature of the thing. That way, people get well-known for their personalities as well as their editing. So the site, overall, is not only about AMVs.

So yes, that would be correct, forum presence does not directly equal anything except forum presence itself. In either direction. They aren't really related factors at all. (do I need to get out the "these factors are not related" chart again? ;) )

The forum's definitely helped me put quite a few faces to names whenever I'm at certain cons.

Actually that's something I always wondered about. Mostly the #amv tough since there are people everyone knows and loves, but they never made good amvs to justify their presence ;). And yes I know I don't make any groundbreaking videos but spam alot. Actually it's sad that people like Tyler and others are seens so rarely. :(

I post in the forums, hang out in #amv but my vids still suck (more or less). People can have a great personality but make crappy vids. I have a crappy personality AND crappy vids. So there.

I'm positive that my first video got more recognition because of my forum/chatroom presence. Doesn't bug me. I've probably still got a bigger presence on the forum, although that's been dwindling, than I do strictly on the AMV front.

I don't think my forum presence has influenced my videos that much. I lurk around a lot, but I don't post that often. I mean, I've been a member for almost 3 years and I still haven't reached 1000 posts - although I'm not sure if that really means anything.

I guess I'm kind of a neutral user here - average videos and average forum presence.

Both my forum presence and videos should be a thorn in the side of this site.
