Yes, I do think it is quite easy to generate very rough, but still distinguishable, ideas of what memorable sequences of frames in videos look like.

Try it. I'm sure that if you think of any video in your collection, you'll be able to pull at least a small subsequence out of it.

Of course, you might say "no" to just be contrary, but.

Well, i guess that might work for people who are kind of artistically inclined, or have good memories of the amvs...

But me... I doubt I could go much farther than simple stick figures :p

Well, the idea goes something like:

How many things have you seen but can't remember any identifying details about, beyond a rough recollection of some visual content here and there?

I guess the search algorithm could be further relaxed to allow for permutations of key frames, although that could be murderous if you did a straightforward extension of imgSeek's matching algorithms.

Even if it turns out to not be useful, it's at least something new, and not the old, tired text-lookup systems that we've had to bend ourselves around for years. So it's still interesting in that sense. :P

That would:

(1) require you to know what video you're looking for in the first place, which completely defeats the point of searching; or

(2) transform the problem into the problem of surfing through many images (if you pre-process every video to get screenshots), which still begs for a useful search method. Like imgSeek. Not everyone does such preprocessing, though.

heh... yea, my archive goes like this:

CDR1 title reads: Anime Music Videos #1
CDR2 title reads: Anime Music Videos #2

and so on... lol (I believe my last CDR was #59.. oh how sweet a DVD Burner would be)

I do have a removable HD that i keep all the ones I really like on, and there are so few of those I know what they all are...

lol.. No Stress :D

I looked through some media cataloging tools (for Windows). This one seems the best of what I could find. It's US$25, but you can try it first (limited to I don't know how many files in the catalog), or look for another one.

You could put the creator and anime used in the comments field, or maybe another field you wouldn't normally use.

I think I'll start trying to code up an AMV application really soon actually, as soon as I start getting some free time again. Microsoft has a "starter-kit" for prgramming a movie catalog, so that should allow me to start learning how to do it. I think I might be able to have something functional in a couple of months.

me no gud at dat.

no, really, that's about the first way I remember em. I'm like, watching a movie that reminds me of that one scene/ rhythm/ music (which is why I like amvs with rhythm) you know, the one that just can't be imitated with just any amv with that scene. Anyway that usually gets me going on my search. I don't usually find anything though ^.^
