That assumes it's not your video (granted in this case it isn't). Since I'm dealing with the exact same footage, but nice indexed vob files now instead of VHS, I'm considering redoing Utena (Story of a Girl). I wouldn't change the scenes. I'd just make the quality completely match. But frame by frame? That's too much effort for cleaning up a six year old video...

It took me a week to remaster my video. The original I used clips from online.. and since premiere wouldn't save my work I had to render the video multiple times even tripling the loss in quality from clips that already were very shitty. Later after I got the DVDs, I decided to go back and remake it.. finding the scenes wasn't that hard, and if you know where to find the clips to use when remastering it, it really isn't that hard to match it frame by frame.

If you do, use a better version of that song. Perferably the orginal LP version. The live versions and all others suck. And sound like complete ass. Especially he versions recorded just for Eight-track. :eck:

Who cares if you do it or not, but if so make sure your timing methods and editing skills are up to par. Real rock videos can be tricky and hard as hell to time. Cheep & cheezy effects will impress no one this time. I have a few ideas as to what I would personally change/time, but my tastes tend to differ from most.
And get permission, at least respect the original creator.
All that beeing done, go for it. Love it or hate it people wil have to accept the video as respectful inspiration.

No. The Director's Cuts were from the late 90s. ADV just lagged on their asses for five or six years before getting the rights and releasing them. Renewal was released in 2003, and contained the remastered versions of the Director's Cut episodes, and Platinum is simply the American release of Renewal without the movies because Manga Entertainment still holds the rights to those.

It's unlikely the Renewal editions of the movies will ever be released in America, or at least as long as Manga has them. If the licensing lapses and ADV grabs it up, you can almost bet on them being released though.
