I've done it before sometimes, especially with swords fights for the sounds or things like that, but I never tried to do something like this more deeplyOpera Phantom91 wrote:Has it been done before to have the entire anime in the AMV not silent? i mean like have the song running and then voices and music of the original anime running too? I'm thinking about doing this with one of my movies would it be a good idea?

It's not about bias, it's about legality. Many anime company representatives (at cons) look the other way if you use anime that their company has licensed, but I've heard that they don't like it when the English dub is used, since techincally, that's the part that they own. I believe the rule of not allowing videos with the English dub in it at all is to prevent any problems. Maybe someone who knows more about this could chime in.requiett wrote:What kind of sick biased shit is that? This is why I don't waste my time with CONS.bum wrote:Go for it. But Some cons have a rule against using english audio
As for the topic of the thread, Methical K's Recognize does what you're talking about, and it leaves the subtitles in, so you know what the characters are saying. I love this video, and I think the usage of source audio is done fairly appropriately. I think he does it twice in the video. The first time, it's a little uncomfortable, but the second time, it fits better.

Oh yeah, sorry for the double post, but pmfreak's Without GTO does this pretty well, too.

What you have to keep in mind is integration. Don't use any audio with background music, just speech and, even better, sound effects. Consider using an audio editor to blend it with the song, fade difrent audio sources in and out but always keep your song playing in the background to preserve continuity.
A spectacular example of this is Brain-Carnival's: When Love and Death Embrace.
