Well, this is a tricky question. Metafores are more of a litereary phenominan. I can think of a lot of videos that are symbolic but as for actual metafores the only ones that come to mind are Arima Shinjikun and A Boy I Knew.

Stop researching.

Quit watching other people's AMVs.

Just make one.

IF you're serious about wanting to do it.

You'll start getting your own ideas when you can see and hear your own work.

That's one way to look at it but it's not always the best thing to do. People watch a lot of videos and read the guides can avoid a lot of the "newbie" mistakes, such as low quality, interlacing, long clips, etc. Afterall, you only get to make one first video, so you might as well do the best you can on it. I watched videos for years before I had the chance to make one and that didn't stop me from developing my own style.

Check out Jasper-Isis.

I know she's only made a few videos, but her stuff is very impressive and I think it's more of your style Sean. You'll like it.[/url]

Well, I suggest you just be careful with what conclusions you draw from the videos you watch. While many technical standards and ideas are very useful, and understanding the 'AMV scene' as a whole is very recommendable, I would say (at least for me) the measure of success is not through comparison to others, but based on what it is you were trying to do. And I think you should decide what you want to do not based on what other videos suggest, but what you inwardly think you would enjoy making and/or watching.

And another thing - by watching good AMV's, although I found some ideas for what to do to to improve my own video, I found even more things that I want to not do or even do the reverse of - not to say that's always a good idea (unless you want to end up with vids like... a couple of mine, I think some will know what I mean...)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
