I find there are several things I actually prefer with WMM in comparison to, say, Premier. But I'm still learning how to use Premier anyways. In any case, I've done all my vids (about 20 so far) with WMM, and nearly all of them do real well in ratings, and they're subtitled at that (of course, some stink like all get-out, but that's just me). So WMM isn't a bad tool at all. It 's just simple and can't do quite as much as those fancy programs out there. It all depends on the person who's making them. I'm not saying I'm a great editor or anything though; I've still got lots to learn. But even a poor tool in the hands of a master can bring forth works of art.
Geez, now I'm waxing poetic...gotta cut off the late-night sweets...

WMM (or WMM2) is a great tool if you're new to making AMVs. I used that program for just over 3 years before I started using Premiere last April, and at least I find that what you learn in WMM creates a great anchor when starting to edit on more complex programs, like Premiere.

I started with Premiere, and I still don't know how to use WMM. :P

I think it's better to start with something like Premiere personally.

When i started i didn't even think of using WMM, i went straight to lesser-noob (i wouldn't call it semi-pro) editing software, like Pinnacle studio. I wasn't satisfied with how that went, and went straight into editing with premiere and DVD footage. The problem with that was that i used dutch dvds (which stink so badly) and that i had trouble with VDub in exporting to XVid, so my first ones (which stink too) were in MPEG1 and looked like crap.
Well, maybe a re-do someday, but anyway, back to about what i was saying in the beginning:

You can edit with WMM, but if you think you can do better in the future and want better quality in the future, why don't you do it now. If you immediatly start to edit with Premiere there is no problem with that, and it works great, it's just that you have to learn to understand the programs, but that is something you will do eventually (no-one here really stays on WMM for ever)

Oh, we're counting WMM2 as well? I've never even used that, seeing as I don't have nor have I ever had Windows XP.

I think these days, the two are pretty synonymous. I admit I'm too lazy to tack on a 2 sometimes. :P

Can you even download the first WMM from the Microsoft site anymore? And even 2 is outdated anyway now that 2.1 has been out for a while.
