I'd blow it off. Only comedy and action videos are ment to be shown in public, and if your video isn't one of those two then it is more than likely going to get a negative response or no response at all.
While thats good advice, I never follow it. I've had a couple people comment negatively about my vids on screen to me and I just "Sorry, your wrong".

im sure thats what Drngd wanted to do when i was sitting next to Corran at Jacon... he was on the other side of Corran... and they played Olin... through the whole video me and pilk were bashing the fuk out of it.. .Corran then pointed out that he was right there... sure i felt a little stupid, but hey, i would have told him to his face if i knew it was him.. he seemed to be cool about it though... Also, i bash Knives' vids alot, and he still talks to me, so i guess hes cool with it, same with Pilk.. but hell, i bash my own vids too so the way i see it, if the vid isnt on my List of pwnage for King Of Spayn 2005, then the vid is good in my book!Castor Troy wrote:When I was at a college anime club meeting one time, my friend was working out his computer with the projector and played my dragon bebop z video on it. After it was over, the guy next to me said "Stupidest video ever". Obviously he didn't know that I created it and part of me wanted to bash his face in but I decided to laugh it off and play it cool.Voices_Of_Ryan wrote:x2GinnySeta wrote:Very nicely put ^_~SSJVegita0609 wrote:Shrug it off, anyone who isn't constructive in their criticism is either an idiot or an elitist, and therefore their opinions shouldn't matter to you in the least.![]()

OMG, is that noteworthy.
But in all seriousness, my true way of handling critisism in the same manner as what you described would be to make it evident that you're ignoring them. Humouring their naysaying for even a moment feeds them. If a commentator, with an actual point, voices real critisisms you should respond to that and find out why. This sends a message that you are a serious editor, want to improve, and have no necessity of nonsense to impede your desire to improve.
Seriously, I have to remember this for my dissertation in a few years.Beowulf wrote:"Sorry, your wrong".

I've only been to 3 cons so far, but I don't think I've ever witnessed a negative reaction to one of my videos (of course, two of those three were Otakon, so it's entirely possible that people were bashing my video and too far away from me to be audible).
Except, of course, for the loud booing coming from the people sitting next to me when my title card came up at AnimeNEXT and at the King of Prussia Otakon '04 prescreening.

I'm yet to see a negative response to a video at a public showing, myself. The worst I've seen would be indifference...
I know someone who showed a couple of my AMVs to their anime club, and they didn't like it - seeing how anime clubs usually use AMVs as fillers for their program, I'm not surprised; it's rare for even an action video to get any positive response in an athmosphere which isn't really conducive to AMV viewing in the first place.
On the other hand, at con showings, I often found that enough momentum/attention usually builds up, provided the videos are good, to allow for effective showing of more serious/dramatic vids.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Heh, a negative response at a convention is half-hearted golf claps (which I guess you could consider indifference).Otohiko wrote:I'm yet to see a negative response to a video at a public showing, myself. The worst I've seen would be indifference...
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
