For some reason, part of me hopes that GameStop will be slapped with a lawsuit for public performance of unauthorized derivatives of copyrighted works.
That's about the dumbest shit I've read all day. That's like saying we should get sued for altering copyrighted material and GIVING AWAY MUSIC for free on the internet.

What GameStop did is harmless. We're not fucking artists, we simply have nothing better to do.

No few would dispute that. What we do is undeniably creative, and thus art of a form. Just remember that art covers a lot more than paintings.

Technically that wouldn't be enough, since the edits are still the intellectual property of the amv creator in question.

No seriously, it would be like saying, someone made a fast and the furious video to a sony song, well song owns the company that made the fast and the furious therefore, they own your ass.

I'll try to contact him via AIM. If anyone else might want to contact him, go right ahead... I really prefer calling Game Stop and asking them to do so. I'm pretty sure that the person who brings them in to show is a member of the site, and would be willing to contact the creators and let them know that he would like to show them over at GameStop. :)

Here's pre-emptive permission to show any of mine that are currently available for DL. Try giving them a copy of AEO:EB and see how many customers they fool into thinking it's legit :D

Damnit, missed your post while responing to that other dude.

Creative? Hhhmm, it can be, but lately it's been everything but creative.
I drew a stick figure on a piece of paper, I'm an ARTIST!!

This isn't art. It CAN be creative, however, it serves no purpose other than to relieve boredom. Don't take offense to this, but anyone can create an amv. Anyone can learn Premiere and After Effects and just create a visually appearling music video. There are no deep statements being made in these videos. They don't make anyone think. They sure as hell make people argue like fuck though.

If you had made your own music, than that would be far more artistic than most music videos, but the fact of the matter is nobody has and I don't see it coming in the near or far off future. We're just butchering other peoples work and then go haywire when someone uses/"steals"/ music videos without permission.

my 2 cents.

Scintilla you rascal.

x_rex30, I meant ask him if you should ask GameStop to take the vids down first. He in question is really the one who is the creator of it.
