I'd go for something like This is DBZ Life for action as it's also a damn fine dbz video so worth including for that reason alone.

But what about the shady underbelly of AMVs? You know, all us angsty 16-20 year olds who make nothing but action/drama vids with nu metal? WHERE DO WE GET MENTIONED!? :P
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

it might be wisest to not show the music videos in their entirety, but maybe 15 second - one minute sections. that way you can fit in more examples and have more time to speak about them.

 When you browse Doki's profile the word "Comedy" stabs you like a needle in the eye.

Action- Mitternacht! This videos top quality is clip&song choice. Very simple but very effective video.

Effects-Koop Need I have to say more? :P

Drama-Peh...there have been so much lately that it wouldn't be fair for me to pimp only one. Bleah...am to lazy to dew it though. Others already mentioned pretty good stuff, so check that out.

P.S. Anyone know where to download Eva Opus? :P I know it's not listed, but I'd like to see it.

One word: SoulSeek.

Or whatever file sharing utility you prefer. Kazaa, WinMX, they all work.

(Just the other week, while browsing some anime fan's files, I picked up a Kevin Caldwell Golden Boy video to "It's a Beautiful Life" that I never even knew existed before...)

My suggestions:

Caffeine Encomium - It's classical music instead of rock/pop, it's a pre-SFX filled video, it's damned funny, and it doesn't require having seen the anime before. You could probably get 15 minutes from just those things.

Failed Experiments At Video Editing - A good demo of how making AMVs is harder than throwing a few clips to some music. Again, it's not required to have seen the anime and it's entertaining.

Storytelling - The story is entirely self contained which is nice and it's a good for showing off a different aspect to AMVs

Soul of An Angel - I still think this is the best effects video around. To really get it requires the audience to have seen Eva before but I doubt anyone would get it all the first time they watched it anyway.

Moneyshot - You'd become on of the most known kids at school instantly. I doubt you'd get a good grade though.

Moneyshot is a retelively new vid.. PFS is older.. and All Night is older.. iMost of aluminums vids are older and really good! and we musnt forget about Sam Farha.. he used to make reallygood vids back in tha day.. IMO.. SpPanda made some good vids a year or 2 ago..
Mr.Pilkington been doin it for a good while too.. his older vids arent too great... but depending on how long ago you want.. maby Yatta!...

Ow, big stab action for Ian.

He even won "Creator of the Year" and yet no one named him :-P, although someone named "Shameless Rock Video." Tsk tsk ;).
I think the point here is that it's not about creators, but rather about AMVs
