So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

"Projects are never completed, only abandoned..."
Nightowl is going to bitchslap me for repeating that, but I really do feel that way. I've never let go of an AMV that I can feel proud of, and I don't really believe that I ever will.
And actually, I'm pretty sure that I'm getting worse at AMV editing as time goes on...

Don't believe him, people. Do not believe him. He's not getting worse at editing, just at measuring his own skill.

and -- no, I think I'm getting better at judging skill, flint...otherwise, I wouldn't be able to write paragraphs of bitching about how bad that cut was, or how horrible that composition looks, or why these five frames look like total ass

I said judging your own skill. And just because you can write a lot doesn't mean that it's really applicable. You are far too hard on yourself.

Personally I go through the overdose that AD mentioned. In fact just yesterday I was watching a video I finished in September or so (and didn't like at all then) and thinking 'I don't know why I hated this video so much, it's not bad'. The ending is still weak, but that's another story. I've changed my mind so much about it that I think I'm actually going to release it now.
I do also feel like 10 times better at editing when I finish something. Maybe I should do more projects like MI... 8)
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

Damn right, it was sass. Check it. Yo.

Agreed. I'm done with my part. And I think it actually has helped me quite a bit. I edit faster now.FirestormXIII wrote:Maybe I should do more projects like MI... 8)

Yah, same here. I used to think Luna in Love was my worst video. Now that I am looking back on it, it's actually really good. definitely the best of my first three. (The other two were... *shudders*... Yeah... That excel Saga video... Oh man... I used to think it was so awesome... gawd...)AbsoluteDestiny wrote:I generally don't like an amv right after I've finished it - unless it's one I did very quickly.
I overdosed on SRV during making it to the point that I didnt appreciate it until months later. I like it now, natch
PS My Love Hina video done to "Dammit" will be so super awesome once I redo it using DVDs >:)
And in response to the question at hand.. hell yes. I improve a lot with each video. I just recently finished my track for the DDR Project. From start to finish, I went from a simple linear video, to something with some actual innovative special effects, some good lipsynch, and some good action synch.
I expect to continue to improve until I can actually say "I'm awesome".
If only I were anywhere NEAR that level. |:

Anybody could probably do this for their own videos, too, but in this case, all those errors add up to an astounding "wtf is this freak trying to do, be AD or something"
