Although it did not win, this has also happened to me.
I'm always shocked at the brazenness of people who steal videos and then submit them to cons, which usually require the submission of their personal data.
Stupid.

I also wanted to point out, video theft like this is boring. Video thieves should steal the contest coordinators videos instead. Now that's entertainment.

Hell, steal the contest coordinators themselves. THAT would be entertaining.godix wrote:I also wanted to point out, video theft like this is boring. Video thieves should steal the contest coordinators videos instead. Now that's entertainment.

Sir, your Army of Darkness trailer was most excellent last year. Although I would recommend removing the original credits and then adding your studio's watermark to the video when submitting the temporarily borrowed AMV to other contests =pgodix wrote:I also wanted to point out, video theft like this is boring. Re: Tsukino-con
So, I found out what happened. I guess they didn't get enough "good" submissions, so the contest coordinator added videos she, and the other judges liked, to the line up. Seems kinda odd to me. Usually the coordinator just asks the AMV creator to submit the video, since it is a contest and not just a showcase.
However, I personally feel doing that is wrong and unfair to the people who put their hard work into creating videos for her contest. If you only get 10 submissions, then play those.
So, this actually could be a good point to start the discussion as to what a contest coordinator should do if he or she doesn't get enough submission for an AMV contest?

Re: Tsukino-con
That sounds just wrong. If it were me, I would have shown however many videos were submitted and selected winners from that pool. If I needed to fill time, then I'd show stuff like your video on a strictly non-competing basis and make clear to the audience those vids are separate from the contest.
