Jdude1225/AMVGUy122558's helpful lil hints

Post by AMVGuy122558 » Sun Aug 27, 2006 12:06 am

1.)Original Titiles> Corny Titles
When people watch AMVs the things they tend to look three things at is the song, anime, and title and to get viewers to come and watch yours you need an attention grabing title. Like for my AMV of Kingdom Hearts with Every Time We Touch the easiest title would be Everytime Sora and Kairi Touch but you need something with pazaz so I made Everytime I Touch Your Heart. Since the plot of the game revolves around your heart and their friends do touch their hearts. Its proven that whe a viewer is deciding which AMV to watch they go with the more original title. So NO just inseerting the characters the name in a line of the song.

2.)LQ, MQ, or HQ?
TONS of AMV viewers deate this for hours on end and anyone with common sense would like HQ better.So you'ld think that people would use HQ then but some of the most common reasons people dont is because either they can't find HQ, they dont personally care about quality, or not to take up to much room on their comp. I have solutions for each of these if you can't find HQ go ask any AND everyone wether it be personal friends or random forums, heck even google you'll find some sooner or later. If it takes to much space on your comp then just get the HQ episodes make the AMV and as soon as you upload it on a site then delete it so that way its not takign up space but you can watch it any timeyou want. If you just don't care bout quality then start caring because everyone else does.

3.)Subtitles
This also a VERY popular debate topic but well it just really comes down to will the subtitles help the emotions of your AMV be clearer? If its some really hard/loud rock song like Deer Dance by System of a Dwn then no it'll just hurt your AMV. If the AMV has a lot of syncing with what the characters say to the lyrics then most likely yes it'll help your AMV be cleaer to viewers. So just analyze your clips and song and decide for yourself.

4.)Effects
THEY AREN"T NESSECARY!!!!!!!!!!!! thats all I have to say their helpful but their is a such thing as having to much.Old Film age every 20 seconds or so is to much but if its Old Film age on just the 2 or 3 flashbacks you have then it should be ok. A fadeout to show precussion beats when theirs no lyrics is good but doing the fading for EVERY percussion beat in the whole song is WAY to much. (and yes people do that) Over time the more experience you get the better you'll become at knowing where to have effects and when its to much so just practice it.

5.)Where should I upload my latest AMV?
Well the 2 most popular places on the net are youtube and www.animemusicvideos.org at youtube people can watch rate and comment on your video but nothing more. While at a-m-v.org people download the whole actaul AMV to thier computers and they MUST rate every AMV they download and they have the option of leavin either anominous quick opinions or actual detailed opinions. Personally I upload at both because I trust them both and a-m-v.org has a forum with a good community so you can get some more helpful hints there.

Well thats all I have for now if I can think of some more I'll post thm back into this topic so I hope this helped some of you out thier.

I know when I'm deciding which video to download I look for a title that grabes my attention.

Your advice is terrible. For one thing, I've seen effects used to great results. For another, subtitles are always bad.

You = fail.
