Talking Ah My Goddess Precious Things AMV *some spoilers*
My compliments to Bogosort who created the Precious Things AMV for Ah! My Goddess; you have created the most beautiful AND the most powerful music vid in the universe, if not just otakudom. There so much beauty, emotion, passion, romance and all that complimentary mushy stuff in your video, unlike Wes Bentley of American Beauty, I really take it. HARD. There's seem to be a tear in my eye every time I view the vid.
I understand how "dark" the song is considering the clashing themes of the two subjects, but the Tori Amos' lush composition really complements the emotions conveyed in the anime. Bridge section where Tori Amos sings about "peach party dress" leading up to "with nine inch nails" could have made better if you could make it about Belldandy's "fall from grace" building up to the climax. But the climax of the vid is just rich. The final chorus really make the end battle scenes more powerful. There's something magical about the those floating sakura-lile "fireflakes" which passed between Keiichi and Belldandy as Tori sings "these precious things". More affective when Skuld pushes the "red button" while words "precious things" wailed achingly in the background.
You were wondering why it baffled you when people say they like your vid. Me, as one of those people, have just said it. It's just beautiful. That's all. Forget what the lyrics are about for the time being, and let Tori Amos whisk you away as she "narrates" the emotional summary of the anime.
One last thing: It's Tori Amos AND Ah My Goddess!!!! A goddess song for a goddess anime!!!! A match made it heaven!!!! Which part of the marriage you don't get??!!!
Keep up the good work, Bogo!!
PS: Tori Amos is definitely shoujo anime soundtrack material.

Well for your information, Madzack decided that I wouldn't have seen this information on the forum, so the entirety of this post got emailed to me.You choose Sam,the rest wrote:Why don't you just email him and not waste our time with your thoughts on another cheesy ass romance video to AMG?
Please, don't call my video a cheesy ass romance video. That's imply that it did things that appealed to the lowest common denominator. I personally stand by my belief that this video just plain sucks and isn't cheesy, cause something that's cheesy has to appeal to some people. I thought that I was exploring the darker aspects of AMG, but obviously these sentiments aren't conveyed to others.
Gee, if you watched my video and didn't like it, perhaps you should post your thoughts in an opinion of the video, or email me telling me that you didn't like it, as you think that Madzack should've done. If you've got something to say, say it to my face. I prefer hearing how my videos suck, cause then I get advice about how to make them suck less.

Thanx, guys....

No, it does not suck. Don't say it. Maybe it is to you, 'cos of the reactions towards it weren't up to your expectations. And no, it's NOT cheesy. This vid just ripped my heart out.I personally stand by my belief that this video just plain sucks and isn't cheesy, cause something that's cheesy has to appeal to some people. I thought that I was exploring the darker aspects of AMG, but obviously these sentiments aren't conveyed to others.
To tell you the truth, last night, after viewing the vid, I went to back to bed, and found myself crying. I cried hard. Really hard. It's as if all the sadness subdued inside me have finally come out. As if I felt empty. Maybe it's the Ah My Goddess AMV. The part where Tori Amos sings "...and I cried" while Belldandy sat mournfully on a throne of sorts, it keeps haunting my dreams.
You can come up with many a technical explanation on how this happen, but all I can say it's beautiful. And sad.
And also, It's always my dream to see Tori Amos doing a soundtrack for A!MG or any other shoujo or bishoujo anime. At least with your AMV, I get to see Tori 'sing' for the anime.
I just want to say 'thank you' to Bogosort for making that dream come true for me. In fact, I wanted to say thanx, to all of you AMV creators who worked hard making these.
The reason I put up the post in here instead of emailing him in private is because I thought it'll be a good idea for us to discuss the AMV. What is it that touched you? Why does it do so? I also hope to answer Bogosort's bafflement in why those who viewed the AMV liked (loved?) it so much.
Again, thanx for your AMV, Bogo.
