How do you guys put and use your own anime footage to make an AMV? If this doesn't go here sorry.

i guess what im trying to say is: how do you use anime footage without getting pirated stuff. Do you burn your dvds to your computer and then import them on a editing system? And if you do how do you burn the dvd to the pc.
