I tryed finding a place in the forums to post, but there wasn't one, so I made this thread. I did not email because theere are several issues with the emails listed. This is mainly to discuss technical issues, feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum if you like (mods). If you want to just converse about the newsletter, I suggestion you start another thread.
Bugs
- The contact email address in the newsletter read `AMV News@gmail.com' which made the `News@gmail.com' a link, not AMVNews@gmail.com
- The contact email address for the producer (since I wasn't sure if there was supposed to be a period or underscore) on the contact page reads AMVNews@gmail.ORG -- oops! there is a gmail.org, but not sure if it's google owned. CK's email in the contact page also reads ceekay@gmail.org
- The member profile links in each of the newsletter sections actually links to my profile! Not theirs! An example can be seen by clicking on ck25 here
or at the main newsletter page, and includes the studio link at the bottom, and all member links inside the articles like this one.
It's like this in each section.
- Junk characters in url, there is a ~ before all the urls in here and here for example, making every link on the page break, since the link ends up being processed as a relative link like:
ew
or this (which also shows the profile bug):
more ew
You might want to check the other pages for this, I didn't.
Suggestions:
- Make the names in the contact page links to their profiles, and maybe even make the emails mailto's
Login problems
- Since the newsletter is in the `members' section, when I got the email, I was like cool! But all the important info you have to click to see. So I clicked. And I got a login page. Fine, you want me to have an account, so random people can't just forward the newsletter around. I login, and I find myself back at the members home page! We've put up with this problem for years, going to download a local video, login in, and then being redirected to members home instead of back to the video... isn't it time this got addressed, especially since it causes problems with the newsletter?
- Keep up the good work! Despite the above problems, I really enjoyed the newsletter. Once a month sounds ambitious, so I wish you the best of luck and know that I'll enjoy them all. And don't fret about the above too much, there are always problems in the beginning. Just look at gmail, it's still in beta!
